Implementing the Uhrig Review: implications of becoming an FMA agency
One potential outcome of the Uhrig review is that some Commonwealth authorities and companies (CAC bodies) may become agencies under the Financial Management and Accountability Act (FMA). The assessment of Australian Government agencies against the Uhrig templates and principles is to be completed by March 2006. The AGS Corporate Governance Forum to be held in Canberra on 25 October 2005 will focus on understanding the Uhrig assessment process, the implications of becoming or creating an FMA agency and the changes that flow from being an FMA agency rather than a CAC body. + details and registration

New scheme to protect aged care accommodation bonds
15 September 2005
The Australian Government will strengthen protection for residents of aged care homes who have paid accommodation bonds, with new legislation to be introduced to guarantee residents' bond balances will be repaid if an aged care provider becomes bankrupt or insolvent and to ensure there are appropriate prudential standards for accommodation bonds.
Government releases ten year study on women's health
14 September 2005
The Australian Government has released research from a ten-year study on women's health and announced a further $4.62 million over the next three years to continue this research. The Australian Longitudinal Study on Women's Health is the most comprehensive study ever conducted on the health of Australian women, involving 40,000 women across the country. When completed in 2016, it will provide information on the health of Australian women over a period of 20 years.

The Australian Government Bookshop Network (also known as the Info Access Network) ceased operations on 17 October 2003. The decision was announced in the 2003/04 Budget.
Publications Register

Electronic Publishing
