Hello!
Welcome to my WebPage.
This is my personal page.
I initially created this page to help educated people about bats.
I've been an avid photographer for years. I then learned how to use paint Shop Pro. I created all of the graphics on these pages. I found that I enjoy working with graphic files, especially my own photography. I found that I
could display my photos of bats in the San Antonio area. There are lots of them here.
They help us more than most of us know. Bats really are our friends. Without them this
city would be over-run with insects. Most bats are NOT rabid, but if you
see one on the ground, leave it alone! It's best to play it safe. Nature photos have been a favorite of mine since I began using a 35MM camera. Flower photos using a macro lens is one of my favorite subjects. Scenery in Colorado, or taking photos of people in natural settings. I've always wanted to try news photography.

ADD or ADHD?
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, often called ADD or ADHD , is a diagnostic label that we give to children and adults who have significant problems in four main areas of their lives:
  • Inattention, Impulsivity, Hyperactivity, Boredom.
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a neurologically based disorder. This position has become controversial as many would like to dismiss the diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder altogether saying that there is no evidence of neurological differences, or that there are no medical tests to diagnose

The Diagnosis of ADD ADHD Everyone in a private practice setting who works with ADD ADHD children or adults is going to have their own opinion on how Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder - ADD or ADHD - should be diagnosed. Some clinics take the perspective that "more is good," and will recommend a large battery of tests, often costing many thousands of dollars. Other clinics, typically with hurried physicians, will simply give a brief rating scales to the parents and then make a quick diagnosis and prescribe treatment. Unfortunately neither of these extremes is in the patient's best interest.

The Personal and Professional Coaches Association defines Personal and Professional Coaching as “...a technique which focuses on the clients’ taking action toward the realization of their vision, goals and desires.” Coaching uses a process of inquiry and personal discovery to build the client’s level of awareness and responsibility, and provides the client with structure, support and feedback. Even though personal coaching is still young as a profession, it has given rise to many “specialty areas” of coaching, including the coaching of individuals with Attention Deficit Disorder and Learning Disabilities. HOW DOES ADD COACHING WORK ?
ADD Coaching is a supportive, practical and concrete process in which the coach and the client work together to identify and clarify the client’s goals and to chart a course towards accomplishing these objectives. Most importantly, the coach helps individuals with ADD sustain the motivation and focus necessary to achieve their goals. The coaching process is highly individualized and takes shape according to the needs of the person being coached. Regular meetings and telephone check-ins with accountability are the guideposts of the coaching process. A partnership with a coach can help refocus the client’s energy, ultimately turning failure and frustration into achievement and increased self-esteem. ADD Coaches work with individuals of all ages to help them acknowledge strengths, accept limitations, develop social skills, and actively create strategies that enable them to be more effective in managing their daily lives.

Attention Deficit Disorder Discussion Forum. Attention Deficit Disorder Blog “Enthusiastic student” and “Pleasure to have in class” appeared on my son’s first mid-term report, replacing the “Very little effort” and “Missing assignments” comments that chronically plagued past mid-terms and report cards. My son’s teachers gave glowing reports of a young man who handed class work and homework in on time, who paid attention and actively participated in class. I am still amazed that this is the same person who, just one year prior, struggled to maintain a “C” average in school, was tested for learning disabilities and received an Attention Deficit Disorder diagnosis ( Causes of ADHD ) after a school career marked with distress and defeat. Then I found hope. I found

A quote from a friend: "Perhaps it should be called "Attention Divergency Dilemma" or "Attention Dynamics Digression."
First, let me say that, as an adult with ADD, I find it very hard to see this uniqueness we have as a true disability. In the first place, it is hardly a deficit of attention, but more of an overabundance of it. The problem is actually more with the inability to avoid distraction - to ignore the many things that demand our attention while we are trying to focus on one. This is particularly troublsome in the classroom setting, where any disruption is met with stern condemnation, or else becomes too much accepted, leading to the child being ignored. Second, although some of the traits (such as hyper-activity) that can accompany ADD can be troublesome, especially in the schoolroom, and may even require medication to offset the chemical imbalances, I believe most of the differences/difficulties faced with ADD are simply differences in viewpoint. I don't mean opinion, but the basic way we look at the world. I tend to subscribe to the idea that we are

What Are the True Facts?
The vast majority of medical doctors consider Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) to be of unknown causes. Yet it's a known fact that the elimination of food additives and refined sugar produces dramatic improvements. Why haven't you been told this well-known fact? Considering the advertising revenues, it doesn't take a genius to see why the print and broadcast media have, for the most part, refused to publicize this vital information!
Studies on Food Additive Use and Intelligence
Food Additives and Hyperactivity in Children ADD interferes with the child's home, school and social life. Unable to screen out stimuli, the child is easily distracted. This usually intelligent child receives a label of being "learning-disabled" and finds the nervous system cannot be slowed down to focus long enough to complete an assigned task. Other symptoms may be head knocking, self-destructiveness, temper tantrums, clumsiness and sleep disturbances. ADD may exist with or without the hyperactivity aspect. ADD has been diagnosed for hundreds of years, but more recently has become more prevalent due to the increased use of chemicals, pollutants, or heavy metal toxicity (such as lead, mercury, and cadmium). One estimate quotes over l.3 million with Attention Deficit Disorder; another source quotes up to 3 million with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

53. Adult And Child Attention Deficit Disorder | Books By Dr. Gabor Mate | ADD/ADHD
Scattered and Scattered Minds written by Dr. Gabor Mate to help children, adults and health professionals understand attention deficit disorder.
http://www.scatteredminds.com
new book is available now!
Scattered , written from the inside by a doctor who himself has Attention Deficit Disorder, offers a completely new perspective on ADD and a new approach to helping children and adults living with the problems Attention Deficit Disorder presents. For information specific to children with Attention Deficit disorder, click here . For Adults with Attention Deficit Disorder, click here "This delightful, helpful book is a welcome addition to the literature on ADD. I would enthusiastically recommend Scattered to anyone touched by ADD - adults, parents, and professionals." - John J. Ratey, M.D., co-author of Driven to Distraction Scattered:
  • Demonstrates that ADD is not an inherited illness, but a reversible impairment, a developmental delay Allows parents to understand what makes their ADD children tick, and adults with ADD to gain insights into their emotions and behaviors Expresses optimism about neurological development even in adulthood Presents a program of how to promote this development in children and adults alike
Now comes Gabor Maté , an insightful, no-nonsense, and thoroughly compassionate physician who provides an overview of all these perspectives and comes to the marvelously humane conclusion that ADD/ADHD is neither nature (genetics) nor nurture (parenting/environment) but, rather, the result of the collision of a predisposing nature with an ADD-hostile life situation, family, school, or job. How refreshing!
