Meet Sara Gogol
Sara Gogol was born and raised in Chicago but now lives in Portland, Oregon, where she enjoys hiking, bicycling, and sea kayaking in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. She teaches writing, literature, and women’s studies at Portland Community College. She has written on a wide variety of subjects, and her published books include Katy Steding—Pro Basketball Pioneer (Lerner Publications) and Playing in a New League—The Women of the American Basketball League’s First Season (Masters Press). Sadly, Sara passed away in August 2004. She will be sadly missed.
An Interview with Sara Gogol
Why did you write this book? When I wrote my two books about women’s professional basketball—“Katy Steding—Pro Basketball Pioneer” and “Playing in a New League—The Women of the American Basketball League’s First Season”—I began to see how coaches have played important roles in the lives of women athletes. Speaking directly with several current or former college coaches for these books also sparked my interest in the subject, as did my reading of the few other books written by or about women college coaches. The more I learned about the subject of women college coaches, the more I realized just how important these women are—as people who have fought for better treatment of female athletes and sports professionals, as key role models for female athletes, as working women fighting hard to succeed within the still male dominated world of sports. Wh at has it been like for you to talk to so many women coaches

I exercise for the enjoyment of activity, stress relief, and most importantly the health benefits I receive. How do I motivate clients?
I think positive feedback and positive reinforcement are crucial components of keeping clients motivated. I also think it is important to keep workouts new and fresh for clients. This helps to deter boredom and increase level of enjoyment during workouts. I also have clients help design their exercise program to ensure they have a sense of control and ownership over each workout. Current Fitness Regime:

GO.com launches EXPN brand with new web site
February 3, 2000 GO.com has launched the EXPN brand revolving around a new EXPN.com Web site dedicated to action sports enthusiasts, lifestyles and events that will feature content, community and commerce. EXPN.com, complemented by interactive EXPN-branded programming on ESPN and ESPN2 "co-produced" by EXPN.com users, launched today in beta (test) format in conjunction with ESPN's fourth annual Winter X Games held February 3-6 in Mount Snow, Vermont. "We expect EXPN to be the definitive name in action sports, and EXPN.com to be the premier online community for action sports athletes and enthusiasts, the number one place to interact, react, and transact," said George McQuistion, vice president and general manager, EXPN.com. "Our efforts are tailored toward a demographic group that is both individualistic and community-oriented. EXPN will allow these users to imbue the site with their own voice, molding and shaping it as they see fit. It will also benefit from ESPN's promotional power and its proven track record with the X Games franchise." EXPN has reached content and promotional agreements with a number of athletes, including high-profile action sports personalities Matt "The Condor" Hoffman and Mike Vallely, to be part of its "Freelance Athlete Network" ("FAN"). EXPN also enjoys the resources of TransWorld, publisher of numerous action sports magazines, the Aggressive Skaters Association (ASA), and top women's action sports magazine, Wahine, among others. Among the sports featured prominently will be snowboarding, skateboarding, surfing, BMX, aggressive in-line skating and skiing.

Gary Bedore's thoughts: Mississippi's loss was Kansas' gain when Langford decided to take back a verbal commitment he made to Ol' Miss and reopen his recruiting first semester of his senior year at North Crowley High in the suburbs of Fort Worth, Texas. It's hard to imagine KU going as far as it did last year without the instant offense off the bench from Langford and Wayne Simien both.Deceptively quick, Langford is cool under pressure as evidenced by the three-pointer he nailed on the road to beat Nebraska last year. And how 'bout that game at Arizona? The lefthanded shooter is quite versatile. He can stroke the three as well as take it to the hole.Pure and simple, he is a scorer. Some guys can score and some can't. Langford can score. His brother, Kevin, is also a major college prospect beginning his junior year at North Crowley.
