MISSION STATEMENT : To support elite and professional athletes, coaches, and management as well as corporate teams through cutting edge techniques, on going assessment, availability, a wide network of human resources, and a positive supportive approach. AREAS OF EXPERTISE : I have consulted mostly with national teams and professional sport affiliates in the areas of athlete and team motivation profiling, strategic planning, team-building, competition planning, dispute resolution, confidence and optimism development, and mental training. These skill sets have been provided during daily training, training camps, on-site in major-games settings, and during professional sport contexts. Additionally, I am currently developing and testing specialized national team coach, management, and athlete training modules to foster improved results in major-games and professional sport settings. These modules are being developed in collaboration with the University of Pennsylvania's Department of Clinical Psychology.

He made the Ski Team at 18, retired briefly after 1995, then earned a spot on the Team in 1999 after paying his own way the season prior. Biography Resilient moguls skier Luke Westerlund gives new meaning to “tenacious.” He’s rebounded from several injuries, including dislocating his right shoulder, which cut short his 2004 season a few weeks. Westerlund, who grew up in suburban New York but mastered moguls while living in Colorado, has demonstrated a tenacity that’s made him a World Cup podium performer.
Update
Westerlund showed no problems from the separated shoulder he suffered late in the '04 season as he posted top-5 results in his first three World Cup contests last season but he struggled over the last half of the winter and skipped nationals so he could rest. Obviously, Torino and his first Olympics is his major target for him this season.
Start-Up On skis at 3 as the family lived in Scarsdale, NY, he was competing at 10. After graduating from Killington Mountain School (VT), he moved to Breckenridge, CO, and trained with Scott Rawles, now a U.S. coach and John Dowling at Team Breck. (At one point, Westerlund lived in a cabin rented from Rawles.) He moved up to the Ski Team with the ’99 season and has had to bounce back from injuries time and again...until, finally healthy a year ago, he enjoyed his best results – at home and overseas – and was seventh in the final World Cup moguls points.

Bring on the bathos
On TV, the Olympics isn't about sports but real-life drama. Get set to meet 1,500 athletes you really care about. By Mary McNamara, Times Staff Writer By the standards of the modern Olympic Games, American diver Kimiko Hirai Soldati is the perfect athlete. She has visible scars from sports-related surgeries. She has had a major career setback — the knee surgery left her unable to continue to compete in her first love, gymnastics. She has known personal adversity — her mother died after a long battle with breast cancer when Soldati was just 17; she wears her mother's wedding ring whenever she dives.
Her father was born in an internment camp in Idaho, making the family's patriotism even more poignant for being hard-won. And should she win at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, she would be, at the advanced age of 30, the oldest U.S. female diver to win a medal.
No matter what her diving scores, Soldati is already a favorite for the gold in the Personal Narrative Event.
