My husband and I were astounded at the immediate relief and it has been over a month now with no inhalers or medicine. No congestion, no coughing, it is really miraculous. After 15 years of medication and two winters with life threatening episodes, I am just teary eyed as I thank you for bringing this asthma treatment to light. (My husband) is so thrilled that I am laughing without starting coughing spasms, and breathing deeply. I'm like a new person. A friend in Tacoma has also tried it. She was at least as bad as I was, if not worse, and has also received immediate relief. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your resource." The Problem
Asthma is the most common medical diagnosis among hospitalized children. In the United States, asthma has accounted for about 15% of non-surgical admissions to the hospital in the pediatric age group. Asthma is also one of the leading causes for emergency care requirements, one of the leading causes for missed school and a cause for considerable morbidity, disability, and occasional mortality at all ages. Despite these discouraging statistics, there is convincing data indicating that this failure of asthma management is not the result of inadequate therapeutic potential, but instead represents a failure of effective medical care delivery. Conflicting and/or complex regimens from multiple sources result in confusion and lack of clear guidelines realistically applicable in the primary care setting. Guideline Goals
Guidelines realistically applicable in the primary care setting can be termed low intensity, and it is the goal of this guide to emphasize those low-intensity measures likely to have the greatest influence on outcome. These strategies can therefore be called low-intensity high-yield measures for managing asthma.

Racial gap widening in U.S. for childhood asthma
ATLANTA, Georgia (Reuters) African-Americans were significantly more likely than whites to experience childhood asthma, according to U.S. health statistics that showed on Thursday a widening racial gap among the young for the chronic lung disease. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said a 1998 survey found that black children were 31 percent more likely than white children to have had an episode of asthma or an asthma attack during the previous year.

UK, Saudi study shows junk food-child asthma link
LONDON (Reuters) Diets rich in junk food could be the culprits behind the rapid rise of asthma and allergies in children, scientists in Scotland and Saudi Arabia said in research published on Tuesday. "This study suggests that dietary factors during childhood are an important influence in determining the expression of wheezy illness," the researchers said in the latest edition of the medical journal Thorax.

Asthma is a disease that affects the lungs and the airways that deliver air to the lungs. It causes periodic attacks of wheezing and difficult breathing. Periodic attacks are caused by an oversensitivity of the lungs and airways, which overreact to certain "triggers" and become inflamed and clogged. Asthma is Greek for "panting". Asthmatics pant during an asthma attack because their air passages, which start in the throat and end in the lungs, become narrowed and sometimes almost completely obstructed. Asthma can develop at any age. An asthma attack occurs when the airways become inflamed in response to a trigger, such as dust, mold, pets, exercise, or cold weather. However, some attacks start for no apparent reason. Triggers may inflame the airways to the lungs , allowing disease-fighting cells to accumulate and causing swelling in the lungs. In addition, the airways may become blocked or obstructed when the muscles surrounding the lungs tighten or go into spasm. Spasms keeps air from circulating freely in the lungs. Mucus may also cause an asthma attack. Mucus may clog and narrow the airways in the lungs, making breathing even more difficult. Symptoms?
