In order to implement this section of the TAC, the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) examinations are released to the public each year after all districts have completed testing. Field test items, which are used to build future forms of the test, are not released. Spring 2003 was the first administration of the TAKS tests. The intent of showing both the objective and the student expectation for each item on the TAKS answer keys is to help school personnel better analyze test results. Such analysis clarifies the connection between curriculum and assessment, and may be used to improve instructional programs.
