American Chambers of Commerce
Dear Industry Colleagues,
In 2004, the Greater Dallas Asian American Chamber of Commerce (GDAACC) was instrumental in developing The Texas Federation of Asian American Chambers of Commerce (TFAACC), which is based in Austin, Texas. This was the initiative of State Representative Martha Wong and the leadership of key Asian Chambers of Commerce in Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio, Texas The purpose of the Federation is to combine efforts in obtaining a larger portion of those business opportunities available through both the public and private sectors of Texas to benefit the members of each Chamber and to raise visibility of Asian Americans in the Public arena. Last year, we held the inaugural Business Symposium in Austin, Texas. Our tenacity in successfully launching the Federation was acknowledged during the Symposium by the presence of the Governor and Lt. Governor of Texas

Franchise versus Business Opportunity
Franchise gets support and uses trademark name from the parent company. Business opportunities no support from the parent company, generally aren't offered the use of a trademarked name, and are independent of the parent company's operational guidelines. Turnkey operations are packaged formats. These business opportunities provide everything you could possibly need to start a business. They help you select a location, they provide training, they offer support for the licensee's marketing efforts, and they supply a complete start-up inventory. Posted by Ahorre at 01:37 PM

The Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005
Joel Russell - The Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005 affects small businesses at both ends of the spectrum. For growing companies, it gives them more power to recover bad debts. At the same time, it makes bankruptcy a larger liability for entrepreneurs and their investors. "Any change that makes it harder to get out of debt makes life better for small businesses," says Luis Salazar, a bankruptcy attorney for Greenberg Traurig. "If you have a financially sound company, you are worried about collecting from other people. This law keeps them out of bankruptcy and makes them pay."

India and Singapore have taken a major leap in their relations by signing a landmark economic pact - the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA) that promises to not only transform bilateral relations but also act as a catalyst in forging closer ties between India and Southeast Asia.
India's per capita income grew 10.7 per cent making it a US$650 billion economy with the manufacturing sector growing at 9.2 per cent, performing better than the 8.9 per cent it was estimated to grow in 2004-05, figures released by the Central Statistical Organisation said.
And Indian companies continue to go global.

  • Tata Consultancy Services has been selected to partner the National Development and Reforms Commission, an arm of the Chinese government, in a crucial joint venture that aims to cater to the software as well as IT enabled service needs, including business process outsourcing, of China, the APAC region and the international market.
Our special this week focuses on how non-tech sectors such as life sciences, biotechnology, power, hospitality and travel, construction and telecommunications have started attracting international VC and private equity attention.

Juliet E. Walker , The University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign THE SECTION The rise of the United States as a world power after the Civil War and the economic growth of the Midwest were closely linked, for the country’s industrial revolution was centered in the region. Located between mineral- and ore-rich western Pennsylvania and Minnesota's Mesabi Range, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, and Wisconsin had become the nation's leading industrial and manufacturing centers by the late nineteenth century. The Midwest was home to a significant number of the nation’s largest business enterprises and to Andrew Carnegie and John D. Rockefeller, two of America’s early leading industrialists. The Commerce and Industry section of the Encyclopedia will focus on Midwestern business and industry, emphasizing their contributions to the economic development of the region and the nation. Starting with the Cyrus H. McCormick grain reaper , and soon followed by several other important producers of farm machinery, the manufacturing of agricultural machines became the Midwest's first important industry. Together, they have sustained the Midwest as the world's leader in the manufacture of farm equipment. It was, however, the
