I thank you, John McLarty, for the brilliant article on the Investigative Judgment, which portrays a beautiful picture of a loving God who reaches out to people of all times, places and situations with the best He has to offer! After hearing, reading and preaching on the judgment for over 50 years, I am happy to see this article which brings beauty and clarity to this subject which so many of us have struggled to understand within the framework of the Gospel. Might this clarification fall within the category of things we "need to learn" and also involve some things we "need to unlearn"? Dick Serns

I am overwhelmed with appreciation at the issue of Adventist Today that arrived today in my home. I have already read it from cover to cover. My mind is etched with a sense of positive purpose that this publication shares. I read the letters in "First Class" and see that others share my feeling. Not everyone! I am refreshed over and over when I see truth shared in an open environment. I spent too long in denominational employment where that was not the case [26 years as a pastor]. I am not vindictive at heart. I love my church. I have always wished for a denominational setting where I could share from an open heart, without fear of losing my job or reputation. That is what I am seeing in Adventist Today. Don?t let that ever slip away!

Reviewed links to mineralogy and palaeontology
These are "reviewed" links and not "Claus' links to everything on the web." That means, I have visited the sites and found they they carry some useful original information for mineral and fossil collectors, that would be good to have if you are interested in ... whatever. That is obviously frightfully pretentious, but there are already several substantial collections of unreviewed links, some of which I have included. Use those. The criteria for inclusion on this list are roughly:
    a) The site contains original editorial material (e.g., locality descriptions), or
    b) describes or gives access to such information (e.g., publisher's web pages).
Mostly I exclude sites that are collections of links, address and staff directories, compilations of photographs or mere pricelists. Many sites include such material and I have no problems with that, but by itself it does not tell me anything about rocks. Similarly, I do not link to every museum or earth sciences department with a web site, but only to those offering on-line displays. If you need museum web sites, consult the museum directory in the Other information section.

($1,103,614; Eliminate eight tenured faculty positions, 12.33 FTE managerial/professional positions and 2.06 clerical/technical/service positions)
The University of Nebraska State Museum (UNSM) consists of a series of research divisions and a division of Public Programs, which includes Morrill Hall and two branch museums (Ashfall Fossil Beds State Historical Park and Trailside Museum). Museum Studies is a UNL masters degree program.
Proposal:
Reduce the research mission of University of Nebraska State Museum (UNSM) by eliminating the research divisions and some research collections.
Consider reducing public visitation hours at UNSM.
Close Mueller Planetarium. Maintain most public programs, including those at Morrill Hall and at the branch museums (Ashfall Fossil Beds State Historical Park and Trailside Museum). Eliminate the Museum Studies Masters Degree Program, including eliminating all budget for staff support, instruction and operations.
