CHAPTER 2: SOCIAL CONTEXT OF AFRICAN THEOLOGY 1: Socio-Historical Survey Ancient Egypt developed the first of the great civilizations of world history. Egypt had already a long and illustrious history by the time ancient Greece reached its apex, and it is well established that Greek thinkers acknowledged their debt to ancient Egypt. Much has been written on Egypt and it need not be repeated here, except perhaps to mention that much current African and African-American scholarship is currently in the process of reappropriating Egypt as a specifically African civilization, in which the Cushites and black peoples of southern Egypt played a major role. The "Afrocentric Hypothesis", as advanced by Cheik Anta Diop and his more recent African-American exponent, Molefi Asante, states that Egypt was the source of all the significant cultural ideas of the civilizations which followed it, Persia, Greece, Rome, etc., and that all of these ideas came from an African source in Egypt and the southern Nile region (see Diop 1954, 1974 and Asante 1987). While some of the more extreme ideas of the "Afrocentrists" remain controversial in historical scholarship, they are bringing the role of black Africa in the ancient world out of obscurity into the realm of debate, which in itself advances the achievement of Africans and has shed light on the manner in which Euroamerican scholarship has systematically denied and suppressed information about Africa's past greatness, a greatness which included the empires of Egypt, Nubia, Ethiopia, Mali, Songhay, Timbuctoo, and Zimbabwe.

This 16 page paper examines FDI in Africa and obstacles to success. Globalization is discussed as problematic in general terms but when more specifics are provided on FDI it is learned that the situation is not quite so clear cut. The future of FDI is seen as positive as it respects Africa. Various aspects of Africa are discussed inclusive of the physical and political environment. The economy is discussed as well. In other words, everything that had occurred in recent world history led up to and influenced the coming of the French Revolution and then the Revolution influenced everything that came afterward. Wikipedia
Afrocentrism Afrocentrism is a worldview or perspective that is centered on Africa and blacks . Afrocentric scholars typically claim that Western accounts of world history and civilization have neglected or systematically denied the contributions of indigenous, black African peoples. The term "Afrocentrism" thus implies a perspective which is in diametric opposition to that of Eurocentrism . However, it also often functions to distinguish the influence in Africa of Arab European and Asian peoples from indigenous African achievements. This particular emphasis on Africa is historically tied to black civil rights movements and anti-imperialist ideologies in America and the Caribbean . In modern America it is associated with anti-racist and African-centred education policies.

Africans are painting the world in a kaleidoscope of bold colors and patterns. Vibrant color combinations, dazzling patterns, rich fabrics, fabulous headgear and elegant gowns we saw in Kenya, Cameroon, Uganda, Benin, Ghana, Tanzania (you name it) at ATA events plus in Conakry and traveling through Guinea, were outstanding. While returning to Paris from Cameroon, we spent some quality time with Seidnaly Alphadi , ( right) whose African- inspired creations are taking Europe by storm. It seemed like half the plane was filled with models from a Fashion Show he had just staged. At a garden party near Mount Cameroon and Limbe Botanical Gardens , our travel agent group was treated to an outstanding fashion show by ' Esterella ' one of Cameroon's top designers.

Afrocentricity, Alienation, and Self-efficacy among Kenyans, Zimbabweans, and Cameroonians P. Masila Mutisya North Carolina Central University Louie E. Ross Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Jilly M. Ngwainmbi Fayetteville State University Paper was written by co-author in his private capacity and is not endorsed by CDC Abstract This study includes an analysis of data collected from three African countries, Kenya, Zimbabwe and Cameroon (N=1569). Constructs thought to measure Afrocentricity, alienation, and self-efficacy, were developed and factor analyzed using principal components analysis. This was an exploratory study. The purpose of the study was to ascertain if selected demographic and other variables were associated with the three factors. Significant correlations were found between some independent variables and the three factors. The findings in this study might have implications for educational policy, cross-cultural awareness, and cultural identity development among Africans in the African continent and it’s Diaspora. This study may also contribute to the validation of Afrocentrism as a theory and serve as a guide in the development of an Afrocentrism Scale.
Introduction
Afrocentricity is based on African centeredness and traditional values of African cultures before European and Arabic influence (Asante, 1988). Asante, (1998) asserts:
