Aruba's government let 4,000 civil servants off work early at 2 p.m. to hunt for Natalee Holloway, 18, of Mountain Brook, Ala. The expanded search began a day after police charged two men in her disappearance. The honors student vanished May 30 while on a five-day trip with more than 100 classmates celebrating their high school graduation. About 40 adults, including seven chaperones, accompanied them. Kenneth Angela and three co-workers from Aruba's lottery company were among the hundreds who boarded 10 buses in the community of Santa Cruz, about six miles from the capital, Oranjestad, to be taken to the search site. Alabama calls for boycott of Aruba ARUBAThe Alabama House of Representatives has passed a resolution in which the state’s residents are urged not to travel to Aruba, because of the disappearance of Natalee Holloway on the island on May 30. Meanwhile, the reward for Natalee’s return has been increased to a million dollars and there is talk of two possible new witnesses who may be able to shed some light on the case. One is described as a gardener who reportedly told investigators he almost ran into the car used by the Kalpoe brothers as they were driving on a dirt road to the Racket Club, a late night club across from Marriott Hotel, on the night of Natalee’s disappearance, at a time (2:30am) when the brothers said they had already left her with Joran van der Sloot at a nearby beach and gone home. The gardener said he had seen both brothers as well as Van der Sloot, who he claims tried to hide his face. A woman who lives near the club reportedly also told a private detective hired by the family that she had seen a car fitting the description of the vehicle driving around there three times that same night. The area had already been looked at, but is now being searched again. Meanwhile, the girl’s family has increased the reward for her safe return to US $1 million, thanks to a large donation, in connection with rumours that she is still alive and in Curaçao, Colombia or another South American country. The reward for just her whereabouts is US $100,000.
