Award-Winning Art Activity Books
Welcome to Bright Ring Publishing and the fun-filled world of process art! Crayons, clay, fingerpaints, cookie sheets, milk cartons, and music are among the many ingredients that go into our imaginative art projects for kids. The art projects in these award-winning books by MaryAnn Kohl allow children to explore the many facets of their world through art as a process, not just as a product. It is this process of exploring and creating , rather than the finished product, that is most important for the young artist. Our art activities leave room for the artist to use imagination and exploration, keys to creativity. We hope the art ideas in these books will inspire all of our readers to carry art in their hearts as they grow and develop, for you are already great artists in every sense of the word!

AEL Technology in Education Teachers >> 170 Ideas and Resources 170 Ideas and Resources for Teachers Integrating Technology into Planning and Curriculum
compiled by Virginia Seale Last updated: June 13, 2002 Technology is not new. It has been incorporated throughout history as men and women worked to solve problems using available tools. In the early days of mankind, technology was used to move rocks; today we move ideas and information, as well as rocks and rockets. The following collection of activities and Web sites is intended to take some of the mystery out of technology and show how technology is interesting, diverse, fun, and absolutely relevant to our lives. Select a project for each day of the school year, or work through the collection at your own pace. Some of these ideas broaden the knowledge of teachers and some can be used with students. Some suggested Internet sites link to wonderful resources for classroom use. Finding the best way to integrate technology for students will take time, exploration, and experimentation on the part of teachers. Enjoy the adventure.
  • Teachers should spend some time contemplating the future and thinking about how to prepare students for the world of tomorrow. Are current instructional techniques helping students become future scientists, technologists, or service workers? Are our classroom techniques preparing students for the 21

TEACHING IDEAS In preparation for this unit, the students can do some background reading on the colonies. I have seen a big difference in learning if your students are not prepared conceptually for this unit. (If your team has a Reading teacher team member, this would be a great place for him/her to participate in the unit. If not, you have to address the reading component.) This unit can be done in five to ten 40 minute long class periods, with an additional five to eight periods allowed for presentation of students products (ten minutes per presentation - four students per period) . However, if other components mentioned in the Teaching Ideas Section are included, it will take longer. The presentations will take a while, in fact a lot longer than you think. That's OK, but expect it. There are fourteen problems to debate. If you have more than twenty-eight students (fourteen problems times two), some of the problems can be represented by more than one student. For example the Coercive Acts were made of three different acts. Four delegates, two per side, could make independent presentations on the Boston Massacre and the Battles of Lexington and Concord.

The spirit of a good company is its people Increasingly, in today's highly competitive environment, corporate success will depend on organisations offering a greater sense of meaning and purpose to their workforce. With the luxury of choice, skilled people will seek out organisations that reflect their inner values and provide opportunities for personal and professional development, not just bigger salaries. Corporate Spirit Australia works with organisations who believe in the value of their people as being the most important element. We look at the 'what and why' of organisational dis-orientation and integrate workplace programs to help improve the 'health' of and rekindle the 'spirit' of the organisation.

    MODERN PICTURE ABOUT ME
    GRADES: 6-12
This is always one of my students' favorite projects. I have used it in 6th-12th grade Art and it works well in each level.
    MATERIALS:
    • 12X18 sheet of white drawing paper
    • pencil
    • marker (any color, but each student only needs one color)
    • ruler
    • stencils or cutouts of symbols for various things (optional-you can make them draw everything themselves, but I find it easier to provide them some cut outs to use)
    METHOD:
  • Think of 10 symbols that could be used to represent YOU (baseball, music, telephone, reading, car, etc.)
  • Draw the ten symbols on your paper covering as much of the paper as possible.
  • Use a ruler to draw horizontal and vertical lines every two inches on top of your drawing to make a checker board.
  • With the marker, fill in every other space alternating shape, background, shape, background and so on. Switch at the beginning of each row. i.e. checkerboard-like
  • Remember, you need to plan and think ahead. Mistakes in coloring are very difficult to fix.
