TEACHERS CERTIFIED IN A STATE OTHER THAN NEW YORK RECIPROCITY
The New York City Department of Education actively recruits and hires teachers from other states and jurisdictions. Representatives from the Office of Recruitment travel throughout the United States to hire recently certified and experienced teachers. To facilitate the transition of certifications from different states, the New York State Department of Education has an Interstate Agreement of Qualification of Educational Personnel which establishes reciprocity with many states and jurisdictions in the United States The following information explains the process of reciprocity and lists the states to which it applies.
