What's Up in the Garden This Week with Sally Kendall: Kale!
Kale is sooooo good for you For a quick dinner I cut up Italian sausage (5 or 6 links) into 1/2 inch slices and sauté it until done. Then I add a few cloves of garlic chopped up. When the garlic is softened I add a huge amount of chopped kale and toss until wilted. I then toss that with a pasta (such as rigatoni, geminelli, or bowties). Yum! To add another dimension, try adding a couple of teaspoonfuls of balsamic vinegar after the kale has wilted. How about Kale Crunch where you bake to kale to a crisp. If the recipe was not from Molly Katzen (of Moosewood fame) I would be highly skeptical, but I think I will give it a try :-) Bitter Greens with Sweet Onions and Sour Cherries - another recipe from Molly Katzen.

Now Chef Rick Manson and his wife, Cathy, have delighted their old friends and made a lot of new ones by opening a branch in Santa Ynez, about 30 scenic miles north of Santa Barbara. The sophisticated menu features imaginative Creole and Cajun food with a little kick of Southwestern and California cuisine. The stylish decor is also decidedly uptown, with colorful, contemporary paintings hung throughout the room. Appetizers are ample enough to share, so you might want to order a few and pass them around. If you're in the mood for seafood, try the coconut-beer shrimp with, as the menu puts it, "a really good sauce" (and it is), or the New Orleans crawfish, cloaked in a light, tasty batter and served with a sherry-mustard dipping sauce. Landlubbers might opt for the Yucatán chicken, lime, and tortilla soup, a zesty prelude that leaves you wanting more of these intriguing combinations.

P.A.L.: Transcript of Module 3 (Online Searching)
Search Strategies:
Colleen: In this segment, we are going to talk about two concepts related to on-line searching. This first concept is word searching versus subject heading searching. The second concept is how to talk to a database to get the most relevant information out of the database to help you find articles for your research. If you understand these two concepts, you'll have much more luck in finding the information that you need. Let's get started.
Word Searching vs. Subject Heading Searching
This is the Library of Congress down in Washington D.C. People who work here are the ones responsible for coming up with that call number system we talked about earlier that starts with letters rather than numbers.
They also develop subject headings that describe the contents of books on related topics or subjects. Let's take a look at a record for example.
This is a description of a book owned by the BGSU libraries, or in other words, a record for a particular book. Notice the area that is highlighted a different color near the bottom of the screen. This is the subject heading field. This book and others like it share descriptive words to describe the contents of the book or in other words, the same subject heading. When you do a subject heading search, this is the only area or field of the record for this particular book that the computer searches.

Observations Weekly
September 29 , 2000
Even though only a month has gone by since we returned to Fauteux, the last few weeks have been quite eventful. It all began with a bang! Frosh week activities definitely set the tone with amazing events like the Pub Squat at Atomic, Charity Casino Night, Bowling-Pizza Night, and of course, the memorable Moonlight Boat Cruise. Shortly after, other clubs joined in to keep the spirit alive. The Business Law Student Society recently hosted a great social night and organized a successful visit to Toronto law firms. Last Thursday, students had the opportunity to meet with a delegation from the Nisga'a Nation to discuss the negotiation of the Nisga'a Treaty and explore the challenges that lie ahead. I invite you to turn to the centerfold of photos to catch a glimpse of what unfolded in the last few weeks at the law school. In this edition of Observations you will also find an article written by André de Maurivez about his experiences as a participant in the Canada-Argentina Exchange.
