Provides a look at the geography, history and culture of the world's eighth largest country. Also includes travel tips.

ARGENTINA
An introduction
Argentina possesses some of the world's tallest mountains, expansive deserts, and impressive waterfalls... C omprising almost the entire southern half of South America, Argentina is the world's eighth largest country, covering an area of 2.8 million square km. Argentina possesses some of the world's tallest mountains, expansive deserts, and impressive waterfalls, with the diversity of the land ranging from wild, remote areas in southern Patagonia to the bustling metropolis of Buenos Aires in the north. Its six major regions are as follows:
This area surrounding the Andes began as a colony of Peru, but today only a few miners and herders occupy this unforgiving region of volcanic peaks and salt lakes. Very little rain falls in Cuyo, though to the east are found the fertile river valleys and subtropical lowlands of the Gran Chaco.
Mesopotamia, a broad, flat plain between the Parana and Uraguay Rivers in northern Argentina, is wet, swampy and extremely hot during the summer. The northern province of Misiones, a more mountainous region nearly enclosed by Brazil and Paraguay, is densely forested and contains a section of the majestic Iguazu Falls. The Chaco
This parched area in the west is part of the enormous Gran Chaco, a region that Argentina shares with Bolivia, Paraguay, and Br

Virtual tourist.
Located in the northeast region of Argentina, this is a relatively young province, whose name derives from the aborigine word "chacu" refering the hunting system employed by its former inhabitants, there is in this land no more history than that of its
tobas, matacos, mocovíes or pilagás , names of the original tribes or the quebracho exploitation fever, hard wood tree which was almost erased several years ago from their forests.Limited by several rivers such as Teuco , Bermejo, Paraná and Paraguay the province of Chaco is widely known by its hot and wet weather conditions.
In the present the Chaco´s economy is based mainly on the cotton, its traditional component, the forests that dominate the geography of this territory are a great economic resource that provide the wood for many sawmills and carpenters who assemble furniture as real artisans , the algarrobo tree is their primary raw material characterised by its strength and durability, another aspect to count is the diversification of its agrarian production .The province has a low industrial output, but is the heart of the commercial and financial activity of the region, a first sight impression that a visitor can quickly appreciate in Resistencia the capital, an important path in the Mercosur roads.

geography and pictures of travel destinations in the varied climatic regions of the country.
http://www.sapiensman.com/austral/travel/
Photos , traveler guides , books , selected links and information for world travelers who want to know more or visit this beautiful land . Argentina in Latin means “country of silver,” so named for the natives that brought silver objects to Spanish explorers who landed on their shores. This name is also reflected in Argentina’s Rio de la Plata, meaning the river of silver, one of Latin America’s largest rivers. Now the treasures are in the land and the rivers of this country full of landscapes of incomparable beauty developing the tourist market. The territory of Argentina is so wide that, considering only the emerged portion of the American continent -almost 2.800.000 sq km , it occupies the eighth place in the world, being only overcome by Russia, Canada, China, United States, Brazil, Australia and India. In spite of its great territorial extension, Argentina presents one of the lowest demographic densities of the world , with most of its population inhabiting the conglomerate of Buenos Aires , the country's capital , with almost 29 million people . However the geographical situation of the country is very peculiar: Argentina is an enormous country, where the climate and geography vary considerably , stretching from hot rainforest in the North to frozen wastes in the South .

    Argentina - Geography
By Ekaterina Zhdanova-Redman Argentina is a big country. It has lots of interesting and exciting places. Argentina is located in South America. It is the sixth largest country in the world! Argentina has many different kinds of land. In the north, there are rainforests. In the west are the Andes Mountains. Along Argentina's east side is the Atlantic Ocean.
There is another interesting place located in its very southern end. This place is an island. It's called Tierra del Fuego. If it seems hard to pronounce, don't worry. It's a Spanish phrase that means "land of fire." What makes Tierra del Fuego so interesting? The land is beautiful. There are lots of mountains and beaches there. But there is something else that's very special about Tierra del Fuego.
Have you been someplace far away? Someplace that seemed a long way from the rest of the world? Maybe you've climbed a tree, or walked out in the woods. Can you remember what it was like being so far away? That's what it's like in Tierra del Fuego. Why? Because Tierra del Fuego has the most southern city in the world! It is called Ushuaia. There is even a train there called the "end of the world" train!
