This page collects all my published work related to information architecture and user experience.
The Elements of User Experience
This conceptual model of the considerations involved in designing successful user experiences for Web sites is the foundation for all my subsequent work in this field. It was published as a PDF diagram in 2000 and an acclaimed book in 2002.
The Nine Pillars of Successful Web Teams
This model documents the competencies a team must incorporate to successfully deliver Web products, based on my observation and experience. You can download it as a PDF diagram or read the companion article published in 2003.
A Visual Vocabulary for Information Architecture
This system for diagramming information architecture and interaction design solutions has been widely adopted since I first released it in 2000. Here you can find a detailed tutorial on how to use the system as well as downloadable shape libraries for numerous drawing applications.

The firm's work encompasses architectural design at all scales-from urban planning to furniture design. Leeser Architecture's designs emerge from cultural, social, and technological patterns present in the site or situation they are engaging. Their projects frequently use technology to reframe our understanding of architectural conventions and production. By shaping and then harnessing our awareness of these forces they create complex and richly varied spatial experiences. Leeser Architecture maintains an "open office" which engages in collaborations across conventional disciplines. Working closely with other architects, artists, graphic and landscape designers, and engineers has allowed the office to remain streamlined and focused while also taking on large-scale projects.

Covers new buildings worldwide and a spectrum of design and technical issues.

No. 256 . 14 September 2005 House of Plastic
by Botond Bognar The designs of Japanese architect Kengo Kuma critically engage the materiality of architecture in order to challenge its usual meanings, and in so doing, to thwart the emergence of architecture as an object. As he has shown in many of his projects, Kuma is determined to "dissolve" the materials that he uses, or to choose materials that are less substantial, stating, "If materials are thoroughly particlized, they are transient, like rainbows." The application of new materials and the uncommon use of old materials are not limited to Japan, but both have been so extensive here that much of the recent success achieved by Japanese architects can be attributed in large part to those devices. Among the growing number of new materials architects have experimented with are: Teflon fiber fabric, polycarbonate, liquid crystal glass, cardboard, paper, corrugated metal, and perforated aluminum, in order to configure lighter structures and more fluid and ambiguous spatial matrices. Shigeru Ban has long been advocating the use of large cardboard tubes, which he used for his Paper Church in Kobe (1995) and the Japanese Pavilion at the Expo 2000 in Hannover, Germany, among other examples of his "paper architecture." Shuhei Endo, on the other hand, has started to use ordinary corrugated metal sheets in unusual, fluidly curving, and often spiral shapes.
