Webelos Week in the Woods For Webelos Scouts August 1 - 5, 2005 Webelos Week in the Woods is a top-notch experience available for groups Webelos Scouts. It is a five-day/four-night adventure for boys who have just completed the third or fourth grades. The cost is $150 for boys and $120 for adults. There is a $20 additional charge per person for out-of-council participants, and there is a $20 late fee after May 15th. The group must be under the leadership of at least two adult leaders (21 or older), and a ratio of 1:5 is highly recommended. Packs should use the Cub Scouting Summer Camps Registration Form to make a group reservation. Webelos Activities There are two Activity Blocks each full day of Webelos Week in the Woods - Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The Morning Activity Block is open from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and the Afternoon Activity Block is open from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Various activities are offered during each block, and your den may visit and participate in as many different ones as you wish as time allows. If you visit a program area and find that it is crowded, just move on to one that is not so crowded and come back to the first one later. Don't try to do everything; it isn't possible. Webelos is a two-year program, so decide which activities are the most appropriate for your Scouts at this time. Webelos 1 dens will want to concentrate on different activities that Webelos 2 dens. Behind the half hour shooting range presentation before the Legislative Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCMR), were hundreds of hours of preparation by folks from both the public and private sectors. That day at the capital was not just one day or even several weeks, but was a decade in the making. Linda Burch testifying before the LCMR at the Minnesota State Capital in St. Paul The LCMR was created in 1963, to make funding recommendations for special natural resource projects. These projects help maintain and enhance Minnesotas natural resources. Since 1963, LCMR has appropriated over $493 million for approximately 1175 projects. Funds go toward things like fish, wildlife and native plant habitat projects, environmental education, water issues, and recreation and natural systems. The shooting range proposal fell under the area of recreation.
