Fees Description The CAMES summer program in the Arabic language offers courses at five different levels: Introductory, High Introductory, Intermediate, High Intermediate and Advanced. Placement exams will be administered to all students at the beginning of the program in order to assess the level best suited to their Arabic language ability. Each level provides a six 1/2-week total immersion into the Arabic language that consists of 25 hours a week of intensive classroom instruction. Colloquial Arabic in the Lebanese dialect is integrated in the program. The program combines classroom instruction with cultural field trips within Beirut and around Lebanon. The total of 160 hours is the equivalent of 8 credit hours at AUB, which may be transferred to other universities. Apart from attending classes, students should expect to spend at least 3 extra hours a day on homework and an additional 2 hours a day on non-recreational activities related to the program such as lectures, clubs, and so forth.

Other Islamic Languages Resources Arabic Study at UGA Arabic is both an Asian and African language. It is the language of roughly 208 million people: 110 million in Asia and 98 million in Africa. In addition, it is the liturgical language of about one billion Muslims throughout the world. At UGA we offer a three year (six semester) sequence in Modern Standard Arabic (MSA), which can be followed by reading courses in Arabic Islamic literature. The instructor of the first two semesters in Modern Standard Arabic is Mr. Wael Doukmak, a native speaker and experienced teacher of Arabic, who is from Syria. The second year and the first semester of the third year is taught by Professor Honerkamp.
