Sustainable Animal Production - Visions for the 21th century Welcome to our Website
Sustainable animal production is a system which preserves the basis of life of future generations. The foundations, conditions and perspectives for animal production are exceedingly variable in different parts of the world. This project focusses on the future supply and quality of food for humans and animals, animal welfare and health, the effects of animal production on the environment, the influences of new technologies, future animal production sites and global trade. These pages contain the Conference Sustainable Animal Production , the documentation of a multidisciplinary project to develop a global vision for the future of the production of food of animal origin. This site is also intended as a forum to continue the dialogue begun in the virtual conference and workshop series "Sustainable Animal Production". The project was realized by a consortium of scientists from four research institutions in northern Germany and includes a virtual conference launched in October, 1999, and followed by a series of

Mystery surrounds discovery of Persian cat
The RSPCA is appealing for information about a cat which was reportedly found dumped in the middle of a road in Derbyshire last week.
On Thursday, 8 September, a member of the public travelling to Skegness in Lincolnshire apparently came across a cardboard box containing a Persian cat in King Street, Alfreton. The person later handed the cat in to Skegness police station. The cat was then taken to the RSPCA in Lincoln who arranged for a veterinary examination. The tabby and white Persian was found to be thin but generally healthy.
The cat, which may have been lost or stolen, is now being cared for at a cattery near Nottingham and will be rehomed if his owners can't be found. Unfortunately he had not been microchipped.
Appeal for info
The RSPCA has since been unable to contact the person who found the cat.
"We're not certain where exactly this cat was found or why he was taken to Skegness," said RSPCA Inspector Helen Mead. "We really need to find out if someone is missing him or if anyone has any information about his abandonment.
"The cat is very friendly and we hope to find his owners or get a new home for him so he can receive the love and care he deserves."

    Plea For Donations
    Dear Pet/Animal Lovers,
We have a team of at least 5 people traveling to the Gulf Coast to help with the care of thousands of displaced pets. Our plan is to rent a trailer and haul supplies. In order to accomplish this goal, we need money to buy the supplies and/or donations of supplies. Since so many generous people have sent pet food to the affected area, there is a stockpile so we do not want to haul pet food.
We will be going where we are most needed, which may be to satellite shelters holding animals after they are rescued and vet checked.
Please help us in this endeavor. It is all for the animals. We appreciate anything you are able to contribute.
    Michele Cloutier

Please Help Animal Victims of Hurricane Katrina.
