by Robyn Hood
(Note! Click images to see larger view.) Linda has been riding all her life and started showing at major shows at the age of 11. During her teenage years, she 'catch rode' at shows, as well as showing her own horses. She has won top-flight competitions in every discipline in which she has competed: steeplechasing, Western and English pleasure and equitation, sidesaddle, dressage, driving, jumping, hunter, three-day eventing and endurance. Linda co-owned and operated a breeding farm with ninety Thoroughbred broodmares, four stallions and twenty Arabians in the early 60's. In 1961, Linda completed two 100 mile races within weeks of each other, a feat then considered impossible. First came a top ten finish in the Tevis Cup on Bint Gulida. Five weeks later, Linda and Bint Gulida set a record in the Jim Shoulders 100 mile ride, finishing six hours ahead of the next horse in thirteen hours and thirty-six minutes. She also won the Best Conditioned Horse award. Bint Gulida became one of the legendary broodmares in the endurance world producing numerous top endurance horses including Kuwiya, Jackpot, and the famed Cougar Rock.

TRAGIC ACCIDENT On Sunday July 17th, 2005, we suffered a tragic accident. As a result of the heatwave, the cooling system supplying one of the four areas where our pets are housed failed, and 28 beloved dogs died.
We are devastated at their loss, and our hearts go out to their families and loved ones. In the 30 years we have been training pets, we have never experienced anything like this, and the incident has forever changed how we all feel about pets.
We would like to thank the thousands of people who have emailed, called and sent flowers.
Of special mention is that most of the parents who lost a pet in this tragedy,
have also been supportive and encouraging. This is greatly appreciated! To those special pets that passed away, our prayers and thoughts are with you. We will never forget what you gave us, and your memories will love on in our minds forever. UPDATE: The Maricopa County Sheriffs Department conductive a two week comprehensive investigation, involving the crime lab, numerous investigators and interviews with staff and clients. Partners and staff supported, and co-operated fully with, the investigation.
On Monday August 1st, 2005, Sheriff Joe Arpaio announced that Leighton Oosthuisen and Partners Dog Training had been CLEARED OF ALL CHARGES, and that no evidence of any wrongdoing, negligence or fault had been found.
