11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Saturday At the Fayette County Animal Shelter we take pride in our services and animals. We maintain a mutually beneficial relationship between strays and the safety of our community by having a proactive approach to what has become a perpetual problem, homeless animals. Our services include assistance for homeless, injured, abused and vicious animals; while keeping public safety as our number one priority. The Fayette County Shelter is here to serve, our officers are here to pick up strays, investigate abuse, help find your lost pet, and assist with emergencies (i.e. vicious animals, in-home wildlife removal and hazards). You can rest assured that if we are not able to help you ourselves, we can at the very least point you in the right direction. Unfortunately, the Shelter can not function optimally on its own. We need your help in order to find many of these animals homes. If you may not be able to provide a home yourself, you can always do the next best thing, tell a friend. On any given day the Fayette County Animal Shelter has a multitude of dogs and cats of all ages (yes, puppies and kittens too, even some purebreds), sometimes even rabbits, birds, guinea pigs and other exotics. We even work with trainers and veterinarians to ensure that your new adoptee is receiving the best services, and you are receiving the best prices.

The current Catawba County Animal Shelter was completed in 1985 and constructed at a cost of nearly $300,000. It is a totally enclosed facility, meaning no animal sheltered is being exposed to the weather. The Animal Shelter was designed with automatic feeding and watering dispenser, separate quarters for male and female dogs, and an area specifically for cats. A nursery room was design to accommodate smaller animals, puppies and kittens. The animal shelter is thoroughly ventilated with collapsible vents on each wall with ceiling fans in all hallways. A top the building is a large fan that draws fresh air in through the vents. The Animal Shelter is sanitized on a daily basis. During periods of cold weather, the kennels are heating above and below. The areas above the kennels have steam heated pipes that force warm air downward and steam heated floors where the animals lie.

Strategies for vaccination in a shelter or other highturnover small animal population severe for both the affected animal and the shelter population.
http://www.vetmed.ucdavis.edu/msmp/protocols/vaccines/vx.htm
Introduction This protocol was developed for use in shelters, rescue groups, or any other facility housing more than 5 animals at one time, This is not the correct protocol for use in private homes. If you are interested in viewing UC Davis' recommendations for vaccination of privately owned animals please visit the VMTH's vaccine guideline site
Question's to consider
What pathogens should we vaccinate against?
Core vaccines are vaccines indicated for virtually all shelters include vaccines against those agents which are very likely to be a threat and for which vaccines are at least somewhat protective. Limiting vaccines to core components reduces cost and incidence of adverse reactions. NAVIGATION

E: ssutton@ci.crestwood.mo.us Established by the Department of Parks and Recreation in 1979, the Animal Control Division has offered animal care and control services to the residents of Crestwood for almost 25 years. It provides for an Animal Control Officer and Park Rangers to pick up stray animals, rescue injured or ill animals, help residents resolve animal-related conflicts, enforce animal ordinances, and address wildlife issues and concerns. At the holdover facility in Whitecliff Park, housing is provided for impounded animals and adoption services are available for unclaimed pets.
Shelter volunteers walk dogs daily, bathe animals, and assist with cage cleaning and feeding. Such interaction provides detailed personality information about the animals that helps in matching them with potential adopters. Other volunteers assist with special events and programs hosted by Animal Control.
