Animal pictures are known from the ancient times . Examining today a big picturing made by pristine man on the wall of ancient cave more than 20 thousands years ago, one don't stop to surprise to the mastering, observance of its creator. Without doubt it was the genius. You may only guess what moved that pristine man, first artist, so realistically pictured an animal - wild horse?
The hand mark, wave lines, spiral, meander , indefinite signs, drew on mild clay - are among the earliest artistic memorials on the European continent. And the first uncertain contours in which one may guess animals picture. These figures are frequently not finished, no details, proportions are not observed. The realistic painting and schematic petrogliphs are coexisting in parallel. The small drawings on bone, stone and animalistic plastic appear. The massive short legged figures of horses, bizons are typical for pristine pictures. The first attempts of the perspective picture are made with application beginning in the pristine painting of two paints - black and red. The animal trunk is pictured in profile, and horns and hoofs - in face or three-quarter. The contour, plane painting gradually fills with details. Attempts are made to represent by parallel traits hair, yellow and red ochre tones are used. The relief contour enforces some volume, animal body mass wrinkles. A pristine artist used mineral paints, soot

Next Mans progress is measured by the sophistication of his tools. First, he discovered how to control fire. Eventually he invented the wheel. He built boats and learned to harness the wind. As soon as commerce developed in early societies, people recognized the need to calculate and to keep track of information. They soon devised simple computing devices and bookkeeping systems to enable them to add, subtract, and record simple transactions. Today, we are witnessing rapid technological changes taking place on a broad scale. However, many centuries elapsed before technology was sufficiently advanced to develop computers. Without computers, many technological achievements of the past decade would not have been possible. Let us now look closely into the development of computers.

Ancient Egypt - Introduction
by DeNile Team
The Nile
n his book Rivers of Empire , Donald Worster examines how the control of water meant everything. He examines how different tribes and societies have developed techniques to control the vital necessity of water.
Worster breaks up his analysis into the following categories, cultural, geographical, organizational, and technical. He takes a culture and explores how the water has influenced each category. For this assignment we will attempt to do the same.
For this web book, we decided to examine how the Nile river had influenced the ancient Egyptian life. Our focused time period was from ancient Egypt to pre-Aswan Dam. During this long time, life along the Nile did not change too much. Many of the day to day activities had not changed due to their isolation from the modern world. The annual flooding of the Nile river dictated their working schedules. We explored the following categories to see how the Nile influenced their life: Geographical Cultural Technical Organizational
It was not until William Willcocks, who helped develop the lower Aswan Dam, entered Egypt did their life-style change. As the control of the water changed, the culture had to enter a new paradigm. his web book on Ancient Egypt is the product of the collaboration of many individuals. The

Japanese literature traces its beginnings to oral traditions that were first recorded in written form in the early eighth century after a writing system was introduced from China. The Kojiki (Record of Ancient Matters) and Nihon shoki (Chronicle of Japan) were completed in and , respectively, as government projects. The former is an anthology of myths, legends, and other stories , while the latter is a chronological record of history . The Fudoki (Records of Wind and Earth), compiled by provincial officials beginning in describe the history, geography, products, and folklore of the various provinces The most brilliant literary product of this period was the Man'yoshu (Collection of Ten Thousand Leaves), an anthology of 4,500 poems composed by people ranging from unknown commoners to emperors and compiled around . Already emerging was a verse form comprising 31 syllables (5-7-5-7-7) known as tanka. In the Kokin wakashu or Kokinshu (Collection of Poems from Ancient and Modern Times) was published as the first poetry anthology commissioned by an emperor; its preface paid high tribute to the vast possibilities of literature

"And did those feet in ancient time ..."
Aboriginal way of life in danger of disappearing
by Peter Carlyle-Gordge Footwear can tell us a great deal about the culture, art and economy of indigenous peoples, at least according to Jill Oakes of the department of Native studies and her research partner Rick Riewe of zoology. During the past two decades they have travelled to Greenland, Alaska, Siberia, the Far East of Russia and across the Canadian Arctic to work with and study aboriginal peoples. In 1994, Oakes and Riewe served as joint chairs of Northern Studies at Trent Un iversity and are adjunct curators of the Bata Shoe Museum as well as research associates at the Canadian Circumpolar Institute at the University of Alberta. Oakes' interests include an interdisciplinary analysis of ways Aboriginal women improve their community quality of life through the informal economy, management of resources and passing on of traditional knowledge. Riewe is interested in northern wildlife management, land use and the impact of industrial development on Aboriginal hunters and trappers. He coordinated the Land Identification Project for the Nunavut land claim and also edited the Nunavut Atlas. The two recently co-authored a book

One cautionary note to those searching for genealogical information on a pirate. Historical records about pirates rarely contain this data, except in rare instances with well-known pirates. The vast majority of pirates' names are lost. Rather than contacting me to answer these type of questions, your best bet is to check genealogical records, which I don't have at my disposal. A special note to teachers and students Answering questions and locating information is something I love to do. If you need help with a project or report, please

April 2003 click here for a printable version All people that have existed on this planet have left their mark in some form or another. The Macedonians are no exception and will be the subject of this series of articles. To properly reconstruct history, corroborating information from at least two sources must be obtained. One such source might be data collected from analyzing material finds like tombs, artifacts, relics and inscriptions, the type of information that can be derived from archeological research. Another source might be a body of literature derived from stories, legends, myths, folklore, poems, songs, etc. passed down from generation to generation.
Unfortunately, for obvious reasons upon which I will expand, the reconstruction of the Macedonian history has been neglected and as a result has not achieved the desired maturity to be considered adequate.
