    29. Auditory System: Physiology Tour
A tutorial on the anatomy and physiology of where and how sound is processed in the brain.
    http://serous.med.buffalo.edu/hearing
The Auditory Central Nervous System the system The human auditory system provides us with vast amounts of information about the world around us. Our auditory system allows us to make pitch and tone judgments . These are essential to appreciation of music and contribute to our understanding speech. In physics terms, pitch tells us about the frequency of sound. Our ears (or more accurately our ears and brains) also allow us to locate the source of a sound. To perform this localization function, the brain combines timing (or more specifically delay or phase) and amplitude information from the sound with information from our other senses. This web site is about how our brains process the relatively simple information given to it by the cochlea into conscious and unconscious perceptions of the world around us.
the site This site was built as part of a neurophysiology course. It was designed to provide an overview of the pathways traveled by auditory information through the central nervous system. It is intended primarily for pre-med and medical students, but I have attempted to make it as accessible as possible. In general the site is organized into sections based on the major anatomical structures in the auditory pathway. From there the reader can delve as deep as they feel comfortable into the physiology and connectivity of any particular structure. I have tried to take advantage of the non-linear nature of web browsing by providing links for the reader to jump to related material in other sections.

  • Describe the process and purpose of lymphocyte recirculation
    Introduction
The immune system operates throughout the body. There are, however, certain sites where the cells of the immune system are organised into specific structures. These are classified as central lymphoid tissue (bone marrow, thymus) and peripheral lymphoid tissue (lymph nodes, spleen, mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue):

    40. Lower Eye Pressure In People With Open-angle Glaucoma Using XALATAN.
Includes full color illustrations of the human eye and structures of the eye, and information about glaucoma.

inviteUserToBeginWebIQ(1,269,512,445); IMS HEALTH, NPA data. Total dispensed prescriptions. March 2003 through February 2004. XALATAN is a prescription medicine used to lower eye pressure, also called intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with ocular hypertension (abnormally high IOP) or open-angle glaucoma. Important Safety Information About XALATAN Like all medicines, XALATAN can have side effects. These side effects are usually mild and tolerable and may include blurred vision, burning and stinging, eyelid redness, the feeling that something is in the eye, eye itching, increased pigmentation (darkening) of eye color, or irritation of the clear front surface of the eye. XALATAN may slowly cause darkening of eye color due to increased brown color, darkening of the eyelid and eyelashes, and increased growth and thickness of eyelashes. Color changes can increase as long as XALATAN is administered; eye color changes are likely to be permanent.
