Boas are the largest snakes, and the anaconda is the largest boa. There are two kinds: yellow and green anacondas, with the yellow being the smaller. Anacondas are nocturnal, but they'll sunbathe during the day on a branch over hanging the water. With their protective coloration of green and black patches on its back, they are easily missed by its prey who come to water to drink. Anaconda's jaw formation allows it to open wide enough to consume larger animals, such as birds, small mammals, such as deer, piccaries, and large rodents such as agoutis, in addition to the usual diet of fish. They have been know to swallow even a cayman. After it eats, an anaconda rests while it digests its meal, sometimes for several weeks, depending on the size of dinner.

http://www.wisegeek.com/what-are-anaconda-snakes.htm
What are Anaconda Snakes? Anaconda snakes are the largest constrictor reptiles found in the Americas. These surreptitious, strong, and sleek snakes kill their prey by squeezing them to death along swampy rivers of the Amazon and Orinoco Basins. Although rare occurrences, Eunectes murinus are wide and strong enough to swallow a person whole. We find anaconda snakes, or water boas, in Brazil, Guiana, and across South American jungles. Never far from water, they like marshy or stagnant river areas, even though they can swim in fast current. During the day, they’ll sun themselves by curling up in branches that overhang the river. But at night, as they are nocturnal hunters, they’ll hide in the leafy underbrush to wait for unsuspecting animals to come for a drink. The camouflage coloring and patient demeanor help anaconda snakes to hunt. Smaller varieties have yellow skin while larger ones are more of a bright green. All types of water boas have rounded splotches that resemble the shadows of leaves or a leopard’s spots. Most animals are in danger of being captured, including tree birds, waterfowl, turtles, frogs, fish, caiman (a reptile related to the alligator), rodents, and even small deer. As a constrictor, anaconda snakes are not poisonous. The smooth shape of their head, as opposed to the diamond shape of heads of poisonous snakes like the rattlesnake, indicates their method of hunting. However, almost all snakes have teeth. The anaconda will bite its prey close to the riverbank and drag it underneath the water to drown. Away from water, it can still wrap its strong coils around the animal and squeeze tightly enough to suffocate the prey.

A ChucksConnection Film Review
Anaconda
Ice Cube stars as cameraman Danny Rich. Anaconda
Paul Sarone plots to take over the boat so he can catch an anaconda.
What is that thing slippin' and slidin' in the water?
Anaconda is well shot to provide the appropriate mysterious atmosphere, and there is the requisite ominous sound track and special effects, but somehow the giant snake just doesn't have the same scary impact as the shark in "Jaws", or the dinosaurs in "Lost World". Maybe it's because the public has been saturated with this type of film, or maybe it's hard to believe that a 40 foot snake could move so fast, and be so vengeful (does a snake even have the ability to think?), or maybe it's because everyone knows the snake is a computer fantasy which looks a little too perfect. And there isn't a lot of character interaction or plot development, so once the expedition gets into snake country, the film turns into a sequence of snake attacks and crew responses. Terri and Danny become snake bait. The best acting was by Jon Voight who delivers a campy and melodramatic performance as the obsessed snake hunter sort of a combination of the Robert Shaw role in "Jaws" and Captain Ahab in "Moby Dick" giving us grim facts about snakes while using the expedition for his own purposes and the crew members for snake bait. The other two characters who matter, Terri and Danny, never get much of a chance to show us what they are really about, other than the fact that they met in film school at USC. The point of this film really seems to be: here are some great new special effects; this time it's a giant snake. Let's throw in some characters, let the snake eat up a few, and all go home happy.

This snake however, is the world’s heaviest snake, and probably the biggest. It spends a lot of time in lakes, ponds, and rivers. So its an aquatic snake. Its cage should be covered with some small tree bark. And more than 60% of the aquarium should be water so it can cruise around and soak and drink and swim. And also try to have some rocks, branches for exercise.

Dozens of feet long, these killer snakes seem to enjoy killing, and are threats to our heroes at all times. Voight appears as a crazed snake hunter who is on a mission to capture an Anaconda alive. Although some real snakes were used in the filming of ANACONDA, the enormous killer snake was created by anamatronic and digital means. Providing the digital imagery for the film is Sony Pictures Imageworks. Their computer generated snake appears in dozens of shots, and was used when the snake's actions simply could not be recreated on the set with the animatronic models.

Carnivores The role of carnivores in the food web is to eat the herbivores. If there weren't carnivores, then there would be too many herbivores for the producers to feed and eventually, the herbivores would die off because they wouldn't have enough food. Some of the carnivores of the Amazon jungle are Jaguars, Giant Otters, Harpy Eagles, Black Skimmers, Black Caiman, Tree Boas, Giant Anteaters, and Anaconda Snakes. The Living Edens Manu http://www.pbs.org/edens/manu/mammals.htm Name: Jaguar. Description: Can weigh up to 350 pounds and grow to a length of six feet. Is the largest and most powerful cat in the Americas. Jaguars usually hunt alone at night and kill their prey by pouncing on their backs and quickly severing the neck vertebrate with a powerful bite. Habitat: Jaguars live in tropical forests in Central and South America and Mexico. Diet: Eats tapirs, deer, peccaries, sloths, caimans, turtles, fish, and giant otters.

All-Reviews.com Movie/Video Review Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid
out of 4 Starring: Johnny Messner, Morris Chestnut Director: Dwight H. Little Rated: PG-13 RunTime: 93 Minutes Release Date: August Genre: Horror Buy this DVD Amazon.com Buy this Video ... Half.com *Also starring: Eugene Byrd, Nicholas Hope, Peter Curtin, Jessica Johnson, Tiffany McManus, Eric Wyatt, Kadee Strickland, Salli Richardson Review by Dustin Putman 1997's "Anaconda" was a cheesy, slick B-movie that had fun with its premise of a documentary film crew being terrorized by a very big snake, succeeding by never pretending to be anything more than a silly popcorn entertainment. It also featured an impressive cast of rising A-listers—Jennifer Lopez, Owen Wilson, Ice Cube—and one deliciously over-the-top standout in human villain Jon Voight that raised it above the throwaway level. With no apparent connection to its predecessor, a cast made up mostly of talentless unknowns, and an out-of-place tone far too serious for its wholly ludicrous plot, "Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid" is both excessively unnecessary and thoroughly worthless. The original may not have been great, but it sometimes takes a truly awful motion picture to uncover another film's qualities.
