INDONESIA TRAVEL WARNING BULLETIN The US State Department has issued a travel warning for Indonesia due to civil disorder and a deteriorating political situation. On May 15, the political situation in Indonesia deteriorated considerably with reportedly more than 200 civilian deaths, according to news reports from CNN and other international news services. Two 747's evacuated 800 Americans to nearby Malaysia and Singapore, of 2000 persons that showed up at the Jakarta airport. Other flights are to follow for private citizens employed by major US multinationals, as well as for non-emergency US Government employees stationed there. By May 17, the number of civilian casualties in the rioting had risen to 500. Since May 14, ACA has received a number of inquiries from some of the 10,000 US citizens in Indonesia, as well as from their relatives back home in the USA. As a public service for those personally interested in the events unfolding in the Southeast Asian nation, we publish the State Department's Travel Warning No. 98-012, issued on 14 May 1998, which substituted the one issued on 13 May 13 1998, for that country. The new travel warning is as follows:

Later in his life, Johnson gained prominence in the field of transit for his innovative use of publicity (1917), total conversion from trolleys to buses (1934), and control of bus traffic by supervisors stationed at sidewalk telephones (1939). THE BIRTH OF VIKING FEST The birth of Viking Fest started when Irma Pearson was appointed The Grand Lodge Deputy for the Central Region of VASA Order of America in 1994. While visiting the lodges in the region, she found the common interest in uniting and sharing information about the Swedish heritage. In 1995, she was asked to organize the 150th celebration of the mass emigration from Sweden, and the Texas 100th jubilee of VASA Order of America. A Swedish picnic was planned, but quickly became a festival for all the Scandinavian Clubs. In 1996, the first Texas Viking Fest was held in Georgetown, Texas, to honor and recognize the centennial of the beginning of the Scandinavian emigration to America and to Texas. The festival drew over 10,000 in attendance, and the Viking Fest was born.
