The American Literature on the Web site is maintained by Akihito Ishikawa, Department of English at Nagasaki University of Foreign Studies, Japan.
This set of American literature resource pages is mainly a collection of links to sites on the Internet especially dealing with American literature and its social, cultural contexts. It includes homepages and documents on over 300 authors and electronic texts of their works. I have also included literary indexes which contain pointers to individual author sites, electronic texts or other related materials.
I try to make it fairly comprehensive, but obviously everything is NOT collected here. For a more complete listing of electronic texts, search the various e-text archives or collections listed in this site or use search engines for more web resources on a particular author.
Admittedly, many of these sites are short-lived; they disappear or move elsewhere on the web in a very short period of time. If you encounter a dead link in this site, please let me know about it and also send me any comments or suggestions for links I should maintain. (Email to
