http://abacus.bates.edu/admin/offices/career/alumni/majors/major.html
We thought you would like to see what Bates graduates have done with their majors. We have compiled thelist below from our records of alumni. There are three possible connections between a given major and the world outside of Bates: A direct relationship where individuals work in positions, or continue in graduate programs, closely related to their academics; an indirect relationship where individuals work in jobs or study in areas that are only partially related to their academics; and no relationship where individuals work or continue in further studies with seemingly little or no relationship between their academics and their future endeavors. If you have ever wondered about your major and your options after Bates the following information may give you some ideas to consider. Your choices are determined by your skills, work habits, motivations, and personality, values, and their intersection with the changing landscape of employment. After reviewing this information, meet with a counselor and discuss your ideas and how your needs can be met through our services. Back "Being 'undecided' about the field you will study," states Linda B. Salamon, Dean at the Washington University in St. Louis, "can feel uncomfortably vague, and making a choice can seem like a powerful, permanent commitment." Students at Bates are sometimes similarly puzzled by their "major" decision and will seek assistance from a variety of sources and individuals.
