Textbook and Course Material Requirements
We are not using a traditional hardbound textbook. So, don't go to the bookstore and buy one unless you want it as an extra reference. Instead, when you log in to the course, you are given the option of purchasing the access code ($75) for your course materials. You can access it for free up to 15 days, so don't purchase the access code until you are fully registered and settled in the class. There is no "book" - all the content is online. You just purchase the access code. It gives you access to all the course materials including lessons, homework, exams, etc. You can print the practice problems and lessons for reference. The access code is not optional.
If you have a Pell grant (and possibly other funding sources) that pays for your "textbooks," there is another option. I've arranged for the bookstore to purchase a few access codes especially for you. This is how it works:
You go to the bookstore and purchase the access code (yes, with your own money). They charge you more, $107 versus $75. They order the access code, then apply to Pell for your reimbursement. The advantage is that you get your reimbursement quicker this way, but I'm told that you eventually get all the money from your grant anyway. So, the choice is yours.
