Degree Programs and Requirements
THE MASTER OF ARTS AND MASTER OF SCIENCE DEGREES are normally completed within two years, during which time the student fulfills course requirements and passes a final examination. In some cases, these degrees can be completed in one calendar year (two semesters and a summer session). The M.A. and M.S. programs differ mainly in course requirements. The M.S. degree in mathematics requires specific courses in algebra, analysis, and topology. In contrast, the course requirements for the M.A. degree in mathematics are flexible and based on individual needs. The candidate for the Master's degree in mathematics has two options, one requiring an expository paper for a thesis, the other substituting additional coursework in place of a thesis. The Doctor of Philosophy degree is normally completed within five years. Candidates for the Ph.D. must fulfill certain course requirements and examinations beyond the Master's level. The most important addition is the Ph.D. dissertation, which is based on original research performed under the supervision of a faculty member. In all programs, students may take approved courses from other departments.

PRE ALGEBRA GENERAL INFORMATION home
Each class day it is expected that you will have your math spiral notebook, your math textbook, practice workbook, calculator, pencil, pen, and other appropriate tools. When you are unprepared , you will lose points for that day. What to expect each day:
  • Homework solutions and questions should be completed in the assignment section of your spiral. Make sure that it is labeled with the date, page number and problem numbers. Corrections are to be shown in ink for assignment credit. Notes: Label by date and title, and place in the “Notes” section of your spiral. Class work: Label (as you label your homework) and complete in the classwork section of your spiral. All practice handouts should have work shown in the spiral unless otherwise instructed. Block days will include work on a project. There will be TWO major projects this year.
The Spiral notebook and the practice notebook will be collected and graded every two weeks.

19. Homology, Homotopy And Applications - General Information
An allelectronic, peer-reviewed, international journal of leading-edge research in Homological and Homotopical algebra, K-Theory, and applications.
http://www.math.rutgers.edu/hha/geninfo.html
General Information
Homology, Homotopy and Applications (ISSN 1512 - 0139) is the all-electronic, refereed journal on Homological and Homotopical Algebra and their applications in the mathematical sciences. Aims and scope of the journal are described below in detail. The Editorial Board controls the journal with coordination by its Editor-in-Chief, Hvedri Inassaridze. Paper copies of articles are archived at the Razmadze Mathematical Institute Library. The AMS e-math Web site has a list of electronic journals in the mathematical sciences.
AIMS AND SCOPE
Homology and homotopy are important disciplines of algebra and topology having fundamental and diverse applications to many fields of mathematics. Their investigation methods, inspired by geometrical and topological constructions, play a crucial role on the development of all the mathematics, ranging from algebraic topology to functional analysis and Galois theory. They essentially study homological, homotopical and categorical properties of a wide variety of algebraic and topological objects. With the use of standard (co)homology and homotopy theories (derived functors, spectral sequences, sheaf cohomology, fibrations, homotopy of simplicial objects) and their non-abelian, topological and categorical aspects, spectacular applications were obtained in the last thirty years in general algebra, algebraic topology, K-theory and algebraic geometry. New important, rapidly expanding and intensivly developing areas of algebra such as algebraic K-theory and cyclic homology are closely related with homological and homotopical algebra.
