in partnership with Read the full article with a Free Trial of HighBeam Research The transition from dictatorship to democracy in Albania, as in the other countries of central Europe, is more than a simple mechanical change from one system to another. The process is a more complex one and it is difficult to make definitive statements about it. It involves not only adjustments to their personal attitudes by individuals but also a radical departure from previous intellectual processes and practices, leading to real freedom of thought in general. It is still too early to assess to what extent democratic changes in different areas of life have been adopted. For ...

Departments The archaeological studies, researches and excavations are designed and directed by the three departments: Prehistory Department Classical Antiquity Late Antiquity and Middle Ages Classical Antiquity Department. This Department is responsible for the archaeological research and study on this period from the VII century BC - IV century AD, and is divided in the Illyrian Antiquity and Roman Antiquity. The Illyrian Urban Period. (V - II century BC) The principal problems of this phase are related to the towns and colonies in the Illyrian territory, their foundations and developments, but also deal with the population, economy, culture, art, religion, etc. Studies of this period have also included as well the forms of the urban organisation in different phases. An important place in the Antiquity's researcher and studies has the process of the foundation and evolution of the Illyrian civilization and state. This was the reason why were excavated a number of Illyrian ancient towns and colonies such as Amantia, Antigonea, Apolonia, Butrint, Bylis, Dimal, Dyrrachium, Lis, Pogradec, Orik, Skodra, Lower Selca, Zgerdhesh, etc. Great contributions on the study of these centres have given disciplines like Numismatics, Epigraphy, and on mastics.
