Home Schooling
Maxwell Area Home Educators (MAHE) is a support group formed primarily to encourage military homeschoolers in the Maxwell/ Gunter/Montgomery area regardless of their reasons for homeschooling, philosophy, or method of instruction. MAHE is NOT a legal cover school, but a network of home-schoolers working together to assist one another in our homeschooling efforts. If you are new to home-schooling or are long term homeschool parents looking to broaden your child's academic experience, there is much we can do to help you.
Information on different cover schools in the area, selecting a curriculum, finding out about extracurricular activities, and participation in field trips is available. Our monthly support group meetings will provide encouragement, information and opportunities. We have a newsletter that is sent out via e-mail.
We also get together for bowling and rollerskating. P.E. has been successful in the past due to motivated parents who have stepped forward to provide leadership and cooperative teaching. We have used the Maxwell Youth Activity Center for these classes.
We hope this information has given you a feel for how the MAHE support group can be of assistance to you. Current information can be found at our group website
