Military Schools
What Military Schools Have to Offer
Military Schools General Rules
These types of schools all have very strict guidelines that must be followed, no exceptions. Most schools start at 6 am sharp, and all cadets are expected to be in formation fully dressed in their uniforms, with their boots polished. Girls that are in a military school are not allowed to wear bright nail polish, or lots of makeup. Their hair has to be either put up in buns, or cut above the collar of their uniforms. Most military schools will have their cadets called to formation before allowing them to have their meals.
Privileges are earned in a military school, if you want something you have to work for it. If a cadet wants to play a video game or go to town on the weekend, they have to earn this privilege. To earn these privileges, a cadet has to earn rank; you give nothing, you get nothing. Military schools do not allow any types of misbehaving, this includes fighting, the use of any drug, or sexual activities either in the school or when on leave to go into town. Being able to work together as a team is a requirement that is necessary from every cadet in a military school. Military Schools Not for Everyone

Alabama judge protests Yale's limit on military recruiters
Acker refuses to hire clerks from law school, citing freedom of speech
By The Associated Press
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - A federal judge in Alabama has announced he will not consider Yale Law students for clerkships, in protest of the university's policy of limiting military recruiters' access to students. William M. Acker Jr., a senior judge with the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama in Birmingham and a 1952 graduate of Yale Law School, wrote last month to Yale Law School Dean Harold Hongju Koh about his decision. "Please consider this an act of loyalty to YLS," Acker wrote.

Fort Rucker is a US Army base located mostly in Dale County, Alabama . The base is the primary flight training base for Army Aviation and is home to the United States Army Aviation Museum. Portions of the base also lie in Coffee Geneva , and Houston counties. For many years prior to the main base (except airfields and other restricted areas) was an open base with unmanned gates allowing civilians to drive through the base between these cities.

Two Tide freshmen celebrate the long road to Division I-A
By GREG WALLACE
BIRMINGHAM POST-HERALD
TUSCALOOSA — His dorm room was unpacked. His mother was gone. It was June 5, and Lorenzo Washington was alone at last at the University of Alabama. Sitting there, finally with time to think, Washington relaxed. At long last, he was in Division I-A. "I was just like, 'I made it,'" Washington, a freshman defensive tackle, recalled this week. "I did it." When Washington started practice this week, he was one of 25 young men who "made it." But the road he and fellow freshman defensive end Brandon Fanney took was a little rockier than most. Both signed with Alabama in February 2004, but neither met academic qualification standards. Their reward? A one-year stint at Hargrave (Va.) Military Academy, a tiny prep school located in the middle of nowhere — also known as south-central Virginia, a few miles from the North Carolina border. While their new teammates struggle with their newfound status, Fanney and Washington savor it. They know just how hard they worked to earn it. "Man, now that I'm finally here," Fanney said this week "I've been here three weeks and it still doesn't seem real. I did what I had to do to get here, and I'm here."

http://aerospace.state.al.us/history.html
Aerospace in Alabama Timeline William Massey Quick of New Market, Alabama, who was 16 at the time, made the first known airplane flight in Alabama. The flight was one of the first monoplane flights in the United States. The Quick Monoplane had been built by Quick’s father William Lafayette Quick with the aid of his brother-in-law Terah Maroney. A U.S. Patent was granted to the elder Quick for the plane’s design in 1913. Later, in 1914, Maroney gave William Boeing his first airplane ride in California. Afterward, Boeing allegedly told an associate that they could build a better plane, which led to the formation of the Boeing Company. The Quick Monoplane is on display at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center. Orville and Wilbur Wright select Montgomery, Alabama, for the world's first civilian flying school. Orville Wright takes first flight at what became known as Wright Field in Montgomery. First Recorded night flight - Brookins and Hoxsey first to see nighttime aerial view. Taylor Field, east of Montgomery, is first active air field in Alabama for WWI pilot training. Its short but active lifespan begins a tradition of pilot training in Alabama that will continue at Maxwell, Gunter, and Fort Rucker. The site of "Wright Field" becomes the home of one of three Army Engine and Repair Depots.

place overall; 4th in paper; 3rd in presentation; 18th in product) Presentation: West Point started the afternoon session in dress uniform, stressing their Army black and gold theme. The team began their briefing by explaining the differences between this and prior stints. Their design goals and the required specifications for the stint were outlined before the team explained how they met the structural requirements. The team elaborated on their mix design and pointed out their unique contribution and secret weapon: expanded polystyrene. They explained how they heated the latter to obtain different size particles to meet the C-33 requirement. After stating that MAXSURF was used to obtain the hull cross sections, the team explained how they constructed their boat. They outlined their methods for placement and quality control. Hard wire was used to reinforce the boat and a compressive-controlled design resulted from pre-stressing. After explaining how they finished the boat, the team ended up by saying that they had accomplished all of their goals and were very pleased with their final product. Very impressive!
