Parrish Jr. High/High School Welcome to Parrish, home of the Tornados! Parrish High School opened around 1920 at the present site of Parrish Elementary School. In 1935 the high school moved into its new building on top of the hill above the elementary school. This facility was destroyed by fire in 1979, and in the fall of 1980 the students and faculty moved into the present location at 35 Tornado Alley. The primary philosophy of Parrish High School is to insure that upon graduation, every student will be able to function productively in an economically-diversified society. In order to achieve this, the community, faculty, and administration of Parrish High School realizes that we must begin with each student, individually. We must assess each student's needs and insure that realistically-attainable levels of education are made available to each student which will fulfill that student's need. There are presently 249 students in grades 7-12.

Each child in the school signs in, votes by ballot, and receives an I Voted sticker donated by the city. The Gifted Ed class counts the ballots. The news crew at our school films and conducts daily updates. The 5th grade Social Studies classes decorate the halls. It is truly a School-wide event. - Jenny Lespi Randolph School, Huntsville, AL One idea I have used in past elections is to provide the students with a blank map of the U.S. with the # of Electoral college votes written in - then the students color in the states the night of the election according to the vote in that state - they choose their own colors. When they bring in the filled-in map the next morning, they get extra credit for it. Just a small activity. - Prabha Sharma Carver Middle School This year, the Student Council will elect its officers at the same time as the mock presidential election. The council felt that, in this way, younger students would grasp and understand the levels of government better.
