1. Hong Kong International Airport Expansion Plan
The Airport Authority (AA) is further developing Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok International Airport to meet its ultimate design capacity of 87 million passengers and 9 million tons of cargo annually by 2020. This expansion plan focuses on the USD2.6 billion SkyCity project, which is located opposite the existing passenger terminal building in the airport’s northern commercial district.
SkyCity
SkyCity includes a covered coach station for cross-boundary and tourist traffic with air-conditioned waiting lounges; airline check-in facilities; 30,000 square meters of retail and entertainment facilities; and up to two office blocks totaling 30,000 square meters in area, including the Airport Authority's (AA) Headquarters, in the initial phase. There will be a total of 90,000 square meters of office space when completed.
In March 2004, AA invited bids to supply and install a new Automated People Mover (APM) and a baggage handling system. During April 2004, AA requested expressions of interest from hotel developers for the construction of a 1,000-room hotel.

Messer Construction Co. Wins Build America Award for Ohio Judicial Center Second Consecutive Build America Award for Messer
CINCINNATI, March 17, 2005
A team from Messer Construction led the three-year, $72 million historic renovation of the former Ohio Departments Building at 65 S. Front Street to house the Ohio Supreme Court and its offices.
In addition to the Build America Award, the Ohio Judicial Center renovation also received accolades from the Ohio American Institute of Architects (AIA) Design Merit Award and the James B. Recchie Design Award from the Columbus Landmarks Foundation. Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist dedicated the building last spring.
Messer Construction Co. Sweeps Regional and National Awards
In 2004, Messer was the only construction company in the United States to win the top award for construction excellence in Ohio, Kentucky and the nation. All three awards were from the Association of General Contractors (AGC), an organization of qualified construction contractors and industry-related companies dedicated to skill, integrity, and responsibility. Messer Construction Co. takes great pride in winning AGC awards because a jury of construction industry peers grants them. 2004 Build America Award
For a construction management firm, winning this award is like winning the Superbowl. The Association of General Contractors of America (AGC) selected The Schuster Performing Arts Center as the best construction management project in the nation completed during 2003.

Department of Landscape Architecture Courses Landscape Technology
GSD 6206, Lecture-Workshop, Spring This course identifies the processes of landscape detailing as they inform the physical production of designed landscapes. The course examines the materials, form, and language of detail as a means not only of developing a design, but as a potential source of design ideas and individual creative expression in landscape architecture. Boston Harbor Site Construction Field Trip, Spring 1998 The course is organized into two parts, the first introduces the fundamentals of detail and examines their character and expression, the second considers details practices, including applications and operations on site. Detail Study, Tanner Fountain, Cambridge, MA
credit: Frank Kluber Class exercises further an understanding of detailing, design development, and landscape construction, through literature and field research, the drawn resolution of formal and technical detail problems, and the exploration, craft, and documentation of detail design. The detail development and execution of landscape projects within the procedures and practices of the construction industry are introduced through illustrated case studies and field trips.

AGATE Revitalizing General Aviation
"AGATE is visible evidence of the commitments of NASA, the FAA, and the industry and university community to two important endeavors: first, to revitalize U.S. general aviation, and second, to reinvent government along the way . . . The AGATE Consortium represents the dawning of a new era for NASA and industry in terms of the ways we do business together. Together, we are undertaking a challenge neither of us could accomplish apart."

1: What is Camp CAEN?
Camp CAEN is a computer science and engineering summer camp sponsored by the University of Michigan College of Engineering Computer Aided Engineering Network (CAEN) . Course offerings range from programming to web design as well as more advanced computer topics. With nearly unlimited access to the University's computing resources, campers get incredible exposure to the facilities of the University that very few can ever experience.
2: How do I apply?
Application instructions can be found online at http://www.engin.umich.edu/caen/campcaen/apply.html/
3: Who attends Camp?
Regular Camp CAEN is open to students ages 12 to 17. They come from all over the country, not just from Michigan, as well as many different backgrounds.
