On this page: Poker Wikipedia Mentioned In Or search: - The Web - Images - News - Blogs - Shopping Accidents and incidents in aviation Poker Plane crash This term refers to when a players hole cards consist of an Ace and a Four. SoundPoker Says : If a player takes a quick glance at their hole cards, they may confuse A - 4 for A - A, because a 4 and an A look very similar. A player who makes this mistake is bound to "crash" once they realize they hold an A - 4, and not an A - A.
An Ace represents an airplane, both from the nickname "American Airlines" and the shape of an "A". The number 4 resembles an airplane with a broken wing. When you combine an Airplane and a broken wing (A - 4), you get a "plane crash".

Everything Orwell and how the major themes of his work, 1984, are reflected inthe news stories and societal trends of today.

PLANE DISASTERS REVISITED The following news story describing how the militaries of USA and Canada have been practising together in the shooting down of passenger aircraft is very interesting. Especially to people who suspected all along that the downing of TWA-800 (and others) could have happened in just such a manner - either intentionally or "by mistake". oops. Websites have been created and books have been written on the subject. A book I suggest people read is THE DOWNING OF TWA FLIGHT 800 , by James Sanders. The news story also points out that the military has been practicising with remote-control planes. This is another 9/11 coincidence in that some people believe the planes that hit the towers were remote-controlled and the pilots over-ridden. This is food for thought for hungry minds. ~ Jackie Jura Air Defense to Be Tested Tonight
Pentagon's 90-Minute Drill Not Tied to a Specific Threat
By Spencer S. Hsu, Washington Post, June 4, 2003; Page A09 Many Washington area residents may find their sleep interrupted by the roar of Air Force F-16 fighters tonight as the Pentagon conducts a 90-minute air patrol exercise to test federal procedures for identifying and confronting hostile aircraft, defense officials said yesterday. In the drill, which will start at 10:30 p.m., two F-16s will intercept two Cessna 172 civilian airplanes in a scenario designed to test pilots, antiaircraft missile crews and civilian and military commanders. A spokesman said the jets will take off from Andrews Air Force Base but declined to provide further details on the affected airspace. He said that the exercise was scheduled for the period when civilian air traffic is lowest and that flight paths were adjusted to reduce the noise level. "We've changed some of the flight profiles to minimize the noise as much as possible, but people still will be able to hear some of these things," said Major Don Arias, a spokesman for the

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
An aviation accident (as per the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board definition) is an occurrence associated with the operation of an aircraft which takes place between the time any person boards the aircraft with the intention of flight and all such persons have disembarked, and in which any person suffers death or serious injury , or in which the aircraft receives substantial damage , while an aviation incident is an occurrence other than an accident, associated with the operation of an aircraft, which affects or could affect the safety of operations. Other countries adopt a similar approach, although there are minor variations, such as to the extent of aviation-related operations on the ground covered, as well as with respect to the thresholds beyond which an injury is considered serious or the damage is considered substantial. Capt. Christopher Stricklin ejected from his USAF Thunderbirds aircraft at an air show at Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho, on September 14 . Stricklin was not injured.

Aircraft Accident: DC. 10 ZK-NZP Flight 901
When: 28 November, 1979 Where: Mount Erebus, Antarctica What happened:
  • At 8.20 am on 28 November, 1979, Flight 901 left Auckland Airport. On board were 237 passengers and 20 crew, looking forward to the 11-hour return flight to Antarctica. These sightseeing flights had been operating since February, 1977, and took the passengers on a low-flying sweep over McMurdo Sound, returning to New Zealand on the same day. Captain Jim Collins and his co-pilot Greg Cassin had not flown the Antarctic flight before, but the flight was considered to be straightforward and they were both experienced pilots. 19 days earlier the pilots had attended a briefing session where they were shown the printouts of a flight plan used by previous flights to the Antarctic. The plan gave co-ordinates for the trip to Antarctica and across McMurdo Sound which when entered into the computerised navigation system, would be flown automatically by the plane.

A CTION F ILMS Recent Ultra-Violent Action Films and Their Stars: Hollywood has always enjoyed lucrative returns from the action-film genre, although the action film has been steadily worn thin with retreaded stories, excessive macho-posturing of the 'one-man-army' hero or hit-man vigilante, and overwhelming special-effects and insane stunts. By the 1980s, action films became more hyperkinetic, violent, and expensive to produce. Raw, indestructible, powerful and muscular heroes of modern, ultra-violent action films were very much unlike the swashbuckler action heroes of the past. Many of the films have morphed into other genre areas, including thrillers, sci-fi, and adventure dramas. The biggest stars and their action films have been:
  • writer/director/actor Tom Laughlin in Billy Jack (1971) ; [Laughlin's first film, one of the earliest vigilante films, was The Born Losers (1967) ]; followed by sequels The Trial of Billy Jack (1974) , and Billy Jack Goes to Washington (1977) ; a remake version Billy Jack (2004) starred Keanu Reeves
