Help with homework online easy
By THURINGOWA LIBRARY SERVICES
All parents will know it's that time of year when the homework assignments begin to arrive on the kitchen table and the cry for help is heard from students all through the suburbs.
Many young people immediately go to the Internet for information and choose popular search engines such as Google, to conduct their search. Little thought may be given to the search words used and therefore search results can be large and cumbersome. A more effective approach to searching the Internet, especially for homework assignments, can be to use a subject listing of websites. Help with searching the internet is available via Netlinks , from the State Library of Queensland.

U.S. agriculture industry excited by new trade pact
By TOM RAGAN
Sentinel staff writer All sorts of fruits, vegetables, beef and grain will head south as free trade kicks in and farmers across the country take advantage of an unlimited, virtually tariff-free market from Guatemala to Honduras, said Jack King, manager of the National Affairs Office for the California Farm Bureau. "It’s a net gain for us," King said. "For the past 20 years, all these countries have had access to our market for virtually free, yet we were being taxed left and right. Now it’s a level playing field." The free-trade pact, which was approved by the House of Representatives on Wednesday by a 217-215 vote, will drop most tariffs between the United States and Guatemala, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador and the Dominican Republic. Many of these nations currently impose tariffs as high as 45 percent on U.S. agricultural products. Industry experts in California say nations with tourist industries in the region will buy more prime and choice beef for their hotels and restaurants, while cotton will be in a more competitive position for the Central American textile industry.
