An overview or summary from a general source such as an encyclopedia or textbook provides background, definitions and key ideas. If you haven't decided on a point of view, an overview will help focus your research. It often includes a list of books and articles for further reading. Course texts and readings provide overviews. Library reference books also provide overviews. Here are three that cover environmental topics and three that cover food and agricultural topics:: Blackwell's Concise Encyclopedia of Environmental Management (Bennett Reference GE 300 B54 1999)

Managing the Spiritual Neighborhood How to Restore the Conscience of America's Communities; A Grass Roots Approach Agriculture, Gardening, Environment L isted on this page are a number of organizations and Internet links related to gardening, agriculture and the environment. As with most of the other resources listed on this site, there is little or no connection between what these groups are doing and what is going on in a typical suburban subdivision. As worthy as these groups are, they don't penetrate down to the grass roots of American neighborhoods. It's the Garden Zone Manager's job to complete the link; to initiate real-world, neighborhood-level activities that create a connection between the environment and the everyday life of residents. Not just connecting residents to the environment, but to each other, and to the intelligent forces that sustain life on the planet. Basic HTML Tutorial Some Good Rules to Follow:
  • Never use spaces in your file names. If you want to use a space, use an underscore character or hyphen instead. Use lowercase letters for file and folder names on the web. Save all of your files locally to a folder called "perspectives" on the C-drive or Desktop. And put all files remotely to your public_html folder into a subfolder called "perspectives." You should be able to find your Perspectives website by going to http://www.eden.rutgers.edu/~your_username/perspectives. Call your main page "index.html" so that it immediately comes up when we come to your page.

Getting That Dream Job I started this web site in 1997 because I was helping my spouse in his (successful) job search. Since then several million people have used these links to find their dream job in natural resources and environmental occupations. You too can be successful. Yes, good jobs are hard to find. Yes, getting hired can be difficult. But 'hard" and 'difficult' aren't the same as impossible (otherwise salmon wouldn't bother swimming upstream). Get started and don't quit until you've reached your goal. If us '50 something' people can do it, you surely can. Site Dynamics Career Categories links are in the top section.
If you don't find a great job among our vacancy announcements, we've provided you with tons of annotated links to posting places all around the 'net. You should always keep in mind that most jobs webs end up with a mix of listings, not just one profession. I've sorted the sites into groups based on the most common types of jobs posted at each web, but you'll want to check related categories to do a thorough job search.

    Introduction
Phosphorus (P) is a naturally occurring element that can be found in the earth's crust, water, and all living organisms. Phosphorus (P) is one of 16 elements that are essential for plant growth. Soils in Virginia are naturally low in phosphorus, and most cropping systems on these soils require supplemental phosphorus to maximize their yield potential. Research has documented that applying fertilizer phosphorus increases crop growth and yields on soils that are naturally low in phosphorus and in soils that have been depleted through crop removal. Crop fertilization represents the greatest use of phosphorus in agriculture today. Although the economic benefits of phosphorus fertilization on crop production are well documented, too much of a good thing can be detrimental. Excessive soil phosphorus is a potential threat to water quality. The purposes of this bulletin are to increase the understanding of the effect of phosphorus in agricultural systems on water quality and to provide options for efficient economic and environmental management of phosphorus.
