Introduction
The Kenyan philosopher Henry Odera Oruka distinguishes what he calls four trends in African philosophy: ethnophilosophy philosophic sagacity nationalistic-ideological philosophy , and professional philosophy . In fact it would be more realistic to call them candidates for the position of African philosophy, with the understanding that more than one of them might fit the bill. Ethnophilosophy involves the recording of the beliefs found in African cultures. Such an approach treats African philosophy as consisting in a set of shared beliefs, a shared world-view an item of communal property rather than an activity for the individual. Philosophic sagacity is a sort of individualist version of ethnophilosophy, in which one records the beliefs of certain special members of a community. The premise here is that, although most societies demand some degree of conformity of belief and behaviour from their members, a certain few of those members reach a particularly high level of knowledge and understanding of their cultures' world-view; such people are sages. In some cases, the sage goes beyond mere knowledge and understanding to reflection and questioning these become the targets of philosophic sagacity. An immediate worry is that not all reflection and questioning is philosophical; besides, if African philosophy were to be defined purely in terms of philosophic sagacity, then the thoughts of the sages couldn.t be African philosophy, for they didn.t record them from other sages. Also, on this view the only difference between non-African anthropology or ethnology and African philosophy seems to be the nationality of the researcher.

The Director-General pays an official visit to South Africa (10-12 July 2005)
18-07-2005 - On 10 July 2005, UNESCO Director-General Koïchiro Matsuura participated in the opening ceremony of the 29th session of the World Heritage Committee in Durban, South Africa.
Recalling that African Sites on the World Heritage List account for 63 properties out of a total of 788, Mr Matsuura said, “there is ample scope for increasing the representation of African countries and African properties, both natural and cultural, on the World Heritage List. I certainly hope that this meeting will stimulate more efforts in this direction by the countries of sub-Saharan Africa.”
In concluding his address, he noted that the 29th session of the World Heritage Committee has decided for the first time to have a subsidiary body working on financial and administrative matters in parallel to the Plenary Session of the Committee. He also observed that “some innovative nominations will be presented to the Committee and will undoubtedly give rise to some interesting substantive discussions. Your decisions over the coming days will influence the future orientations of the Convention.”

Rather, it means a different way of involving students in mathematical activities and mathematical thinking. The reform movement in mathematics education is a reaction to the sad fact that much of the traditional mathematics curriculum had little relevance to the lives of students or to other aspects of school life. Mathematics was not connected to anything. Many students were unable to apply the math they learned in school to solve everyday problems.

"Blacks simply were not allowed in these so-called public facilities," he writes. It was not until his college years that art became a passion, and not until the late 1970s that Evans, by then a physician, began collecting works by African American artists. (left: Duncanson, Robert Scott Man Fishing (1848), oil on canvas 25 x 30 inches) Today, the Evans collection is one of the best of its kind in the world and one of the broadest-based, with more than 200 works in all media by 19th-and 20th-century artists. Among these are the largest number of privately-held works by two 20th-century icons, Romare Bearden and Jacob Lawrence. (More than a dozen, from the 1940s to the 1980s, are included in the current exhibition.) In the 1990s Dr. Evans was named by
