The program critically examines African and Diaspora experiences, institutions and perspectives with particular focus on the ways in which gender, class and racial capitalism have shaped the lives of black people. It draws on faculty and courses primarily from the departments of History, Literature, Languages, Religion, and Sociology/Anthropology. From Earlham, graduates from the AAAS program have gone on to law school, medical school and graduate school at such institutions as Columbia University, Tufts University, Northwestern University, Ohio State University, Northeastern University, Rochester, and Boston University.
