PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Langley Aerospace Research Summer Scholars Program (LARSS) is a 10-week summer internship at NASA Langley for rising juniors and seniors, and graduate students who are pursuing degrees in aeronautical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science, computer science, atmospheric science, astrophysics, physics, chemistry, or selected aerospace disciplines of interest to LaRC. Students from other disciplines such as business, finance, communications, and graphics may also be selected to work in areas that provide aerospace-related programmatic support. The LARSS Program was established in 1986 by Dr. Samuel E. Massenberg, NASA Langley's former Direction of Education. NASA Langley's primary mission is basic aeronautics and space technology research, and it is the NASA Center of Excellence for Structures and Materials. Two primary elements of the LARSS Program are:
  • A research project to be completed by each participant under the supervision of a researcher who will assume the role of a mentor for the summer.
Attendance at technical lectures by prominent engineers and scientists.
