Course Description:
Teaching a secondary fitness concepts course and its role in health promotion. Course Objectives:
After successful completion of this course, students will: 1. know the components of a fitness concepts course and effective methods of teaching them. 2. know how to effectively teach aerobic dance. 3. know how to effectively teach weight training. 4. know how to effectively teach goal setting and personal physical activity program planning. Course Structure/Approach: This course is taught in a laboratory setting. Exercise physiology and behavioral psychology principles will be integrated as students learn and practice how to teach a fitness concepts course, including the activities of aerobic dance and weight training.
