Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

Florence Simpson Coordinator of Academic Competitions The goal of academic competition is to provide a competitive outlet for our students who are particularly talented or interested in a certain area or subject. Academic competition motivates students through intellectual growth and helps them develop a sense of pride in themselves and in their school. Teamwork and cooperative learning are encouraged and promoted. This outlet also provides students with an opportunity for extending the knowledge and skills they have acquired through their curriculum subject matter. All competitions abide by "UIL" academic rules.
