Name at birth: Malcolm Little While in prison for burglary, Malcolm Little adopted the Black Muslim faith and became a minister of the Nation of Islam upon his release in 1952. As Malcolm X, he was a charismatic advocate of black separatism who rejected Martin Luther King, Jr.'s policies of non-violence. Malcolm X broke with the Nation of Islam in 1964. That same year he made a pilgrimage to Mecca and shortly afterwards he embraced orthodox Islam and took the name El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz. He recanted some of his earlier more strident viewpoints on race, though he remained a staunch advocate of "black power." He was shot to death by a group of men while giving a speech in New York City in 1965; some of the men had connections to the Nation of Islam, though a formal tie between that group and the assassination was never proven. Extra credit The Autobiography of Malcolm X was published after his death in 1965 and became a best-seller; the book was co-written by

Malcolm X Exposed As A
Homosexual Rapist And Prostitute
(Originally published by JTF.ORG on June 29, 2005) The fruit of Islam Bruce Perry's 1991 biography of Malcolm X documents in detail his life as a homosexual rapist and prostitute - Perry also edited a collection of X's speeches The "other Malcolm," close Malcolm X companion Malcolm "Shorty" Jarvis, described how X was paid to apply talcum powder to a rich young white man - and to perform obscene acts on him The 1991 biography of Malcolm X, The Life of a Man Who Changed Black America (Station Hill, New York), written by Bruce Perry, clearly documents that Malcolm X was not only a homosexual, but was actually also a homosexual rapist and prostitute. The fact that Malcolm X was a convicted drug dealer who sold poison to his own people for profit is a matter of public record. As is the fact that Malcolm X was a pimp and a rapist who violently attacked both black and white women.

    Perspectives on Malcolm X
    Horace Coleman, Huntington Beach, CA
Malcolm was intelligent, logical and eloquent. He experienced racism and was aware of it. Prejudice, racism and discrimination hurt him. His reactions to his experience changed his outlook and his behavior. These things changed his life. And his life changed us. When he was a gangster he was a capitalist, a literal robber baron. When he was a prisoner he was a philosopher and a student. When he was a Black Muslim he was a racist. He was also an effective community organizer and a charismatic, soul-saving religious leader. When he became a Moslem he was a humanist, an ambassador without portfolio, and a statesman without a country. He was an internationalist when he died, obsolete without having been fulfilled. He is not, however, a failure. Malcolm had the often unintended "revolutionary" effect of frightening both the establishment and the oppressed. He spoke of self-defense and whites heard racial violence. Heand the Black Panthers before their FBI-aided self-destructionlegitimized the concept of physical self-preservation. Both the youthful and flamboyant Panthers and the older, wiser Malcolm stopped short of asking the next logical question. If it is inherently moral to defend myself against my enemy, is it not also correct and necessary to attack my attacker? Most of us are still not ready to answer this question.

    Malcolm X (El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz)
The 22nd stamp in the Black Heritage series honors Malcolm X, one of the most influential African-American leaders of the 1960s. His controversial ideas sharpened America's debate about racial relations and strategies for social change. Born Malcolm Little in 1925, Malcolm X became the most visible spokesperson for the Nation of Islam in the early 1960s. He later broke away from the organization, disavowed his earlier separatist preaching and supported a more integrationist solution to racial problems. Under the name El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz, he attempted to organize an independent movement to put his new ideas into effect. On Feb. 21, 1965, he was shot to death while giving a speech to his followers in Harlem. The photograph featured on the stamp was taken by the Associated Press at a press conference in New York City on May 21, 1964.

    Bayard Rustin Meets Malcolm X
Reprinted from January-February, 1993 issue of Freedom Review , a publication of Freedom House Malcolm X : In the past two year, the Hon. Elijah Muhammad has become the most talked ahout black man in America because he is having such miraculous success in getting his program over among the so-called Negro masses. Time magazine last year [1959] wrote that he has eliminated from among his followers alcohol, dope addiction, profanity-all of which stems from disrespect of self. He has successfully eliminated stealing and crime among his followers. Time also pointed out that he has eliminated adultery and fornication, and prostitution, making black men respect their women, something that has been characteristically absent among our men. Time also pointed out that Muslims, followers of Elijah Muhammad, have eliminated juvenile delinquency. When you think about it, Time Host : Does this involve the creation of a separate state in America? X : It involves the creation of a black state for the black man if not in America then somewhere on this earth. If not Abroad, then here in America. Primarily it involves acquiring some land that the black man can call his own. If the powers that be don't want it here, then they should make it possible for us to do it somewhere else. Host : It does involve politics, then.
