Reddit Newsvine Techn. Stumble It! With news coming out of Detroit this week detailing the laundry list of Mike Williams' rookie transgressions, it remains to be seen what sort of impact it will have on his early NFL career. And with only one season under his belt, Williams has made it clear that his intention to compete in the league doesn't necessarily coincide with his efforts to make that desire a reality. The number that is being reported in terms of fines last year is $400,000 for the wideout. That is chump change for some professional athletes, but representative of Williams' entire base salary during his first two seasons in the league. While he still has $9.5 million guaranteed from his original rookie deal, one has to wonder how long the Lions are going to put up with a guy who is as equally talented as he is frustrating. While general manager Matt Millen took a risk from a positional standpoint by drafting a receiver with a first-round pick for three straight years, it's quite plausible that he didn't envision his problems developing from half-hearted efforts from two of those picks. Charles Rogers spent his first two seasons on injured reserve, and last season spent time in the NFL's drug suspension program. He still has a chance to make this team yet, as head coach Rod Marinelli seems intent on giving him at least one more chance to get things right.

CHAPTER WILLIAMS CHARLES COLEMAN by J. P. COLEMAN Williams Charles Coleman was the son of Allen Coleman , and was the first of the Colemans in Mississippi . He was born Sept . 13, 1801 and died February 4, 1877. The lands in Winston County, Mississippi , to which the Colemans first moved from South Carolina , were opened to white settlement by the Choctaw Indian Treaty of 1830 at Dancing Rabbit . The territory here relinquished was divided into seventeen counties by the Act of December 23, 1833. Choctaw and Winston were two of the seventeen. Mississippi had become a State only sixteen years previously, December 10, 1817, although there had been settlements at Biloxi and Natehez for over a hundred years. Winston County . situated a little east of the geographical center of the State , lay to the South of Choctaw County , named for the Indian tribe.

Biography of Charles Williams
WILLIAMS, Charles Walter Stansby (1886-1945), author and scholar, was born in London 20 September 1886, the only son of Richard Walter Stansby Williams, clerk, of Islington, by his wife, Mary, daughter of Thomas Wall, cabinet maker, of London. He was educated at St. Alban's School and at University College, London. In 1908 Williams joined the Oxford University Press as a reader, and remained a member of the staff, increasingly valued and much beloved, until his death. His duties, however, as literary adviser in a publisher's office, although carried out with enthusiasm and wisdom, occupied a relatively small place in his life. In 1912 he published his first book of verse, The Silver Stair, and, for the next thirty-three years, wrote, lectured and conversed with a tireless and brilliant energy. In that time he produced, apart from anthologies, a number of prefaces, and a rarely interrupted series of reviews, over thirty volumes of poetry, plays, literary criticism, fiction, biography, and theological argument Williams was an unswerving and devoted member of the Church of England, with a refreshing tolerance of the scepticism of others, and a firm belief in the necessity of a "doubting Thomas" in any apostolic body. More and more in his writings he devoted himself to the propagation and elaboration of two main doctrines - romantic love, and the coinherence of all human creatures. These themes formed the substance of all his later volumes, and found their fullest expression in the novels (which he described as "psychological thrillers"), in his Arthurian poems, and in many books of literary and theological exegesis.

The Charles Williams Society
President: The Archbishop of Canterbury The Society exists to promote the study and appreciation of the life and writings of Charles Walter Stansby Williams Charles Williams is probably best known, to those who have heard of him, as a leading member (albeit for a short time) of the Oxford literary group, the "Inklings", whose chief figures were C. S.Lewis and J. R. R Tolkien. He was, however, a figure of enormous interest in his own right: a prolific author of plays, fantasy novels (strikingly different in kind from those of his friends), poetry, theology, biography and criticism. He worked nearly all his life for the Oxford University Press, also lecturing extensively on English literature for evening institutes and latterly for Oxford University. Much of his critical writing grew out of this activity. His seven novels appeared from 1930 onwards; unlike much fantasy fiction, they deal not with imaginary magical worlds but with the irruption of supernatural elements into everyday life. A legal officer has bequeathed to him the original set of Tarot cards; the investigation of a murder in a publisher's office merges with the rediscovery of the Holy Grail; the ghost of a girl killed in an accident helps thwart a plot for world domination....

19. The Novels Of Charles Williams By Glen Cavaliero
he Novels of charles williams by Glen Cavaliero. Lost Club author.
http://homepages.pavilion.co.uk/users/tartarus/williams.html
THE LOST CLUB JOURNAL
The Novels of Charles Williams by Glen Cavaliero Even devotees of weird fiction have paid insufficient attention to the works of Charles Williams – there is no entry on him in the Penguin Encyclopedia of Horror and the Supernatural Charles Williams: Poet of Theology (1983) and The Supernatural and English Fiction (1995), looks at Williams’ ghostly fiction. The many people who have bought The Oxford Book of English Ghost Stories since its publication in 1986 may well have been perplexed on reading ‘Et in Sempiternum Pereant’ by Charles Williams (1886-1945), so greatly does it differ in style and content from most of its companions in the anthology. For here is a story in which virtually nothing appears to happen. A retired Lord Chief Justice, out walking in the country, enters a burning empty house and encounters a troubled spirit on its way to Hell. The setting is vague and the material details scanty. Not until it is over does the story have the power to frighten: it gains its effects through implication. The only tale of its kind its author wrote, in its substitution of spiritual for material terror it epitomizes his approach to the writing of supernaturalist fiction. Today Charles Williams is probably best known for his connection with C. S. Lewis and the Inklings, and in Christian circles as a highly original and perceptive lay theologian. But he was also an accomplished poet, a highly individual literary critic, and the author of seven novels frequently described as ‘supernatural thrillers’. The latter have been reprinted more than once, and are the kind of books which divide their readers sharply. Williams is a writer to whom people either respond wholeheartedly or not at all.
