The Ultimate RAB book list
This represents a summary of all books recommended, mostly in rec.arts.books, that I've saved the recommendation for. The list spans three years, and includes other book lists. The listings span the range from banned (or attempts made) books to those recommended for children, current bedside reading to books that changed someone's life. The only consistent feature of the books on this list is that someone posted on the net that they recommended it for some purpose. Almost all of the books present are ones I haven't read (which is probably what prompted me to save the note!) and some are books I've read and didn't like much. But, since others do, they're here. The list is somewhere over 1250 books long. You should be able to find something interesting here. Authors A-F

Racing Can Be Murder Racing Can Be Murder is a collection of nineteen stories written by some of today’s best mystery writers. All the authors are members of the Speed City Indiana Chapter of Sisters in Crime . This delightful collection revolves around the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race and the festivities that take place in Indianapolis each merry month of May. All the writers approach their individual stories in their own unique way. There are stories that involve the race track, the drivers, a Snakepit Ball of the future, and a ‘Snake Pit’ murder discovered by a radio host on a late-night call-in show. One author uses historic Tuckaway as the setting for a pre-race party; another, a bar in Speedway to examine drivers of the past. The 500 Festival Parade, the 500 Festival princesses, an early air show staged at the Speedway, Pole Day, booth volunteers, the museum, the land that surrounds the track, and the beautiful escorts hired by those with no party dates round out the variety of subjects. Tucked between each story are true facts about the 500 Mile Race. Racing can be dangerous, and in some cases, it can be murder. The book is co-edited by Brenda R. Stewart and Tony Perona. The authors are: Judith Skillings, Chris Wright, Brenda Robertson Stewart, Andrea Smith, S.M. Harding, Lucy Coyle Schilling, Phil Dunlap, Sheila Boneham, Tamera Huber, Sherita Saffer Campbell, P. J. Robertson, D. B. Reddick, Wanda Lou Willis, Debi Watson, Sheila Sowder, Jaci Muzamel, Tamara Phillips, Diana Catt, Tony Perona, Ann Collins.

34 Congress Members for Impeachment
Update
Rep. Tammy Baldwin Signs on for Impeachment

Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin has signed on in support of H Res 333, articles of impeachment against Vice President Dick Cheney.
Wed, 2007-08-01 1 By David Swanson I ran into Congressman Donald Payne Tuesday evening and asked him if he would sign on to cosponsor H Res 333, articles of impeachment against Vice President Dick Cheney. He said yes immediately and brought his legislative director in on the conversation. They both said yes, as a matter of course, as if all they'd been waiting for was someone to ask them. Now, I know that's not quite the case, and that citizens of New Jersey have been lobbying Payne and other New Jersey Congress Members intensely. Still, it makes me wonder how many Congress Members might back impeachment if people just got to them, face-to-face, and asked. Well, here's your chance to find out. Congress is taking the next month off. Congress Members will be in their districts. They'll be near your house. They have offices near your house. Now is the time to ask them to cosponsor H Res 333 or introduce their own articles of impeachment against Cheney. If they agree to cosponsor H Res 333, you should contact Congressman Dennis Kucinich's office and let him know. If they do not agree, you should make a bunch of big posters that say "Honk to Impeach" and stand on the street corner in front of your Congress Member's office. Or you should sit in their office, read the Constitution out loud, and refuse to leave. August is your time to make your message clear. 54% of Americans want Cheney impeached, and 40% do not. See how many of that 54% you can bring with you to your representative's office.
