Alan F. Horn
President and COO, Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.
In addition to working closely with Barry Meyer, the company's chairman and CEO, on Warner Bros.' overarching strategic and long-term business plans, Horn also focuses on the oversight of all of the Studio's theatrical and home entertainment operations, including the Warner Bros. Pictures Group (worldwide theatrical production, distribution and marketing, Warner Independent Pictures), Warner Premiere (direct-to-platform production) and Warner Home Video (operations in 90 international territories). Under Horn's leadership, the Studio's theatrical and home entertainment divisions operate as solidly established category leaders. In 2006, Warner Bros. Pictures' domestic and international divisions each had their sixth consecutive billion dollar-plus years at the box office, and Warner Home Video was the industry's marketshare leader. Warner Bros. Pictures was honored with six Academy Awards for its films released in 2006, including Best Picture for "The Departed" and Best Animated Feature for "Happy Feet." Among the films produced under Horn's aegis are some of the Studio's most popular and profitable, including the five films in the Harry Potter series to date (which became the most successful motion picture franchise in history in September 2007), "300," "Happy Feet," "The Departed," "Batman Begins," "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," "Ocean's 11," "Ocean's 12," the second and third Matrix films, "The Last Samurai," "The Polar Express" and "Million Dollar Baby" (received Academy Awards for Best Picture, Director, Actress and Supporting Actor). The Studio's 2007 slate includes "Ocean's 13," "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," "Fred Claus," "Michael Clayton" and "I Am Legend" from Warner Bros. Pictures as well as "In the Valley of Elah" and "December Boys" from Warner Independent.

    11. Bold Type: Interview With Alan Warner
With his first novel, Morvern Callar , alan warner has created a rich and vibrant work. The eponymous Morvern is one of the more unforgettable protagonists
    http://www.randomhouse.com/boldtype/0497/warner/interview.html
arner holds court at a table littered with empty glasses. A natural storyteller, he revels in recounting his past escapades. "I was in this bar once, and I was so drunk. I'd been drinking all the way down on the train from Aberdeen," the Scotsman begins exuberantly. "I was sitting with my mate, and I took a swig of Guinness, and vomit was instantly right up in my throat. I put down the pint, went through the door that said GENTS, and I hit the cubicle door. It busted open and there was a guy taking a crap, and I spewed all over him! Over his face and his bare thighs. And I turned my head to the side, but the spew was coming out with such speed that it was bouncing off of the partition and catching him. He just looked at me with this horror, and I punched him as hard as I could in the nose. I just thought he was going to kill me. He was a big guy, I thought he was going to rip my head off. And his head went right back and blood went all about. I just looked at him and went, 'Sorry mate, but who takes a shit in a pub?!?' You've never felt remorse like I felt the next day. Like remorse ," he says, shaking his head. "Poor guy. I mean can there be a God? You're sitting there having a quiet, enjoyable shit, the door busts in, a guy spews up all over you and then he punches you right in the nose. And they say God exists."

Contact Contributor Zoe Strachan talks to Alan Warner about French intellectuals and the chemical generation genre ZS: Your story ‘After the Vision’ was in my opinion the best in the Children of Albion Rovers anthology produced by Rebel Inc. It says it was taken from something called The Far Places . Was this a novel? It seems to have similarities to These Demented Lands AW: Yes, a section of a novel and parts of a linked series of short stories called, believe it or not, Trend Fault Team 2 , about Highland kids who were into rap music. I might rework some of these stories sometime. These Demented Lands came from some other area of my storm tossed imagination. ZS: These Demented Lands was a little bit different from your other novels, it was more surreal and included illustrations. Did you think of it as a chance to be more experimental with your text? AW: Well, the illustrations you mention are already in
