  • Humans still consider those things that go bump in the night just a myth, and the Brimstone Syndicate will do anything to keep it that way. A botched operation leads vampire investigator Rose Webb and her partners, a young werewolf and a pissy goblin, directly into a confrontation with powers that threaten to subvert the Brimstone Syndicate. Rose must use her connections in the underworld to investigate, unravel, and solve the mystery. And not everyone, or everything, is as it seems. The Brimstone Betrayal is a witty, dark, sexy romp through the hidden underworld of vampires, witches, werewolves, and demons.

  • Inspired by a true story. Is there life after death? It's a question best-selling horror novelist Jack Devlin is desperately trying to answer since his wife's suicide. His personal life has crumbled, while his career and sanity aren't far behind as his nights are spent combing through allegedly haunted places in pursuit of the supernatural, and the hope of speaking to her one last time. The Mushroom Speaks Psilocybin: The Magic Mushroom Growers Guide . "The mushroom which you see is the part of my body given to sex thrills and sun bathing, my true body is a fine network of fibers growing through the soil. These networks may cover acres and may have far more connections than the number in a human brain." The High Times Interview by David Jay Brown and Rebecca McClen, published in the April 1992 issue of High Times . "At still higher doses psilocybin triggers this activity in the language-forming capacity of the brain that manifests as song and vision. Psilocybin may have synergized the emergence of higher forms of psychic organization out of primitive protohuman animals. It can be seen as a kind of evolutionary enzyme, or evolutionary catalyst." Re: Evolution the spoken word portion of track ten of the "Boss Drum" CD from Shamen. "What shamans have to do is act as exemplars, by making this cosmic journey to the domain of the Gaian ideas, and then bringing them back in the form of art to the struggle to save the world." Time and Mind do not exist in this universe, and yet, you're looking at it."

Dali on TV
I found this little gem of Salvador Dali appearing on the old game show "Whats My Line" on YouTube the other night. After watching this I had to ask...What modern painter could appear on a game show in today's world and be instantly recognizable? Where people a little more culturally aware in the 1950's? posted by TAU at 8:04 AM 0 Comments

Index A-Z Listings Directors Actors ... Feedback
Terence Young
Terence Young (1915-1994) b. Shanghai, China.
Shanghai-born Terence Young's work as a director has been fairly undistinguished apart from his contributions to the James Bond movies, which include the first and best of them, Dr. No (1962). He scripted some good war films in the early years of his career, but he has not usually contributed screenplays to films that he directed since embarking in earnest on a directorial career in 1948. In a way, this may have something to do with such a dismal record: Young seems to have had the misfortune to choose (or be assigned) a great many films whose scripts were so poor that few directors could have done much with them. Even though Young's direction does tend towards the stodgy, better directors would have given up on such offerings as That Lady (1955), Safari (1956), Zarak (1956), Action of the Tiger (1957), Serious Charge (1959), No Time to Die (1958), The Poppy is Also a Flower (1966), The Rover (1967), Red Sun (1972), The Klansman (1974) and Bloodline (1979). The signs are that Young encouraged his players into stridently flamboyant playing in these movies to give them some kind of flavour. This concern with actors led him to gain personable performances from the leading players of the few decent screenplays he has found: Sean Connery in the Bond films, for example, and Audrey Hepburn in Wait Until Dark (1967).

The Vice-Chancellor
Dr Terence Kealey has been Vice-Chancellor at the University since April 2001. He is a well-known academic specialising in Clinical Biochemistry. Dr Kealey received his doctorate from Oxford University in 1982 and worked as the Wellcome Senior Research Fellow in Clinical Science at the Nuffield Department of Clinical Biochemistry, University of Oxford. He then moved to Cambridge University to become a lecturer in the Department of Clinical Biochemistry. He left in 2001 after 13 years to come to Buckingham. Dr Kealey is known for his book The Economic Laws of Scientific Research and for his journalism and scholarship where he has shown that governments need not fund science or higher education. His argument is that the independent sector can provide wider access and deeper scholarship than the state. Dr Kealey wrote a regular column in the Daily Telegraph until very recently which was thought provoking and often controversial.

Washington, D.C.'s premier Jump R'n'B band !
Big Trouble delights swing dancers, roots music fans, and blues lovers alike with a combination of swinging guitar, rough hewn vocalizing, swinging shuffle grooves, and pulsing horns. Big Trouble sounds both retro and modern danceably fun but still bluesy and deep.
We've evolved from a harmonica dominated Chicago blues band into a jump r'n'b band with one of the best horn sections on the East Coast. We mix a healthy dose of swing, be-bop, and even rockabilly into our style.
We started Big Trouble in 1992 as an alternative to all the bands that have given blues a bad name. The ones who do nothing but the most predictable cover songs, that can't swing, that have no real grounding in the music's history, and make no effort to reach out to new audiences. You know who you are!
The members of Big Trouble have shared stages with James Cotton, Little Jimmy King, Smokey Wilson, Robert Jr. Lockwood, Johnny Rawls, and Bobby Radcliff and have made many friends along the way.
