    Introduction
This guide shows how to integrate the C++/Tree mapping generated by CodeSynthesis XSD with Berkeley DB XML . Berkeley DB XML is an embedded XML database which allows efficient storage and query of XML instance documents. CodeSynthesis XSD is a W3C XML Schema to C++ data binding compiler. The C++/Tree mapping allows you to manipulate the data stored in XML using objects that semantically correspond to your application domain rather than dealing with direct representations of XML. For an introduction to the Berkeley DB XML refer to the Berkeley DB XML Getting Started Guide . For an introduction to the C++/Tree mapping refer to the C++/Tree Mapping Getting Started Guide This guide describes the following four operations:
    • Create a new document in DB from an object model Create an object model from a document in DB Create an object model from a document fragment in DB Update a document fragment in DB from an object model
Our examples will be based on simple XML for book library. The XML Schema definition for the library is in library.xsd

  • Strunk, William Jr. 1869-1946
    American educator, editor, and author.
    INTRODUCTION
Strunk is the author of The Elements of Style, known as "the little book" of English grammar. Despite its slight size—only forty-three pages—it has remained a useful tool for students of English composition for decades. E. B. White, a former student of Strunk's, revised and updated the book in 1935 and termed The Elements of Style Strunk's parvum opus.
    Biographical Information
Strunk was born on 1 July 1869, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He attended the University of Cincinnati and received his undergraduate degree in 1890. He became an instructor of mathematics at the Rose Polytechnic Institute in Terre Haute, Indiana but left to pursue graduate studies in English literature. After earning his doctorate at Cornell University in 1896, he studied at the University of Paris in 1898. A year later he returned to Cornell and became an instructor of English literature. During this time he edited several books on English literature and developed an interest in writing a handbook on English grammar derived from his experience with undergraduate students. Privately printed in 1918, The Elements of Style garnered critical and popular attention for Strunk. Becoming a full professor in 1909, he remained at Cornell until his retirement in 1937. During his career he was recognized not only as the author of

    http://people.emich.edu/rjackson2/my_new_style_rule.htm
Rebecca Jackson ENGL 328 6 March 2006 Professor Krause My New Style Rule I found it challenging to complete an assignment that asked me to devise my own stylistic writing rule. As a rule follower it was difficult to change into the persona of a rule maker. I certainly do not feel qualified to make a rule after studying only two style books. In William Strunk The Elements of Style and Joseph M. Williams’ Style: Toward Clarity and Grace, rules of style and grammar are presented in bulk and it becomes overwhelming to invent a “new” style rule. How could they not all be taken? It seems that Strunk and White and Williams together have looked at grammar from every possible angle. With a little help from both Strunk and White and Williams, I was able to incorporate each of their individual definitions of style into my own. My rule reads as follows: Avoid using the word “not” when writing a statement unless you are using a positive and negative in opposition or denying an allegation. The first part of my rule came from Strunk and White’s The Elements of Style and reads as follows, “Put statements in positive form” (

    Baker, Sheridan. The Practical Stylist
The Practical Stylist examines essay writing, from determining a thesis statement to writing grammatical sentences. The chapter on writing a thesis is particularly effective. There is a good section on revision and examples of essays for different disciplines. Buckley, Joanne. Fit to Print . Toronto: Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, 1991.
Fit to Print is a brief guide to essay writing that covers the essentials without belaboring the point. It's a book to use as an aid to writing essays because it follows the natural course from selecting a topic to revising and proof reading. Carney, Tom, and Barbara Carney. Liberation Learning: Self-Directed Learning for Students. Windsor, Ontario: Para-Publishing Enterprises, 1988.
Liberation Learning: Self-Directed Learning for Students presents information and approaches to virtually every issue that university students encounter during their studies. The first chapter examines writing and suggests strategies for overcoming blocks. Another chapter examines learning and teaching styles and the relationship between them. Chapters on time management assume that the students are just out of high school so not be appropriate for mature adult students.
