'How She Move' Most E-mailed Maazel gets to heart of 'War Requiem' Starring as your hometown 'Mansfield Park' By Kenneth Turan, Times Staff Writer We've suspected it for some time, but "Finding Nemo" all but makes it official: With five successes out of five attempts, Pixar Animation Studios is now the most reliable creative force in Hollywood. Perhaps not since Preston Sturges made seven classic comedies in a row between 1940 and 1944 has one name been such a consistent indicator of audience and critical pleasure. Following the two "Toy Story" films, "A Bug's Life" and "Monsters, Inc.," Pixar's entertainment philosophy gets another boost with "Finding Nemo," an engaging undersea story, written and directed by Andrew Stanton, of a fish family learning life lessons that (surprise!) humans can benefit from as well.

This wry and original comedy of depression tells its story through fiction, documentary, animation and archival footage as if it were turning the pages of a comic book. The 76th Annual Academy Awards—Renner’s Predictions Prophet, seer, forecaster, mystic, and psychic. All of these titles refer to a person who has (or claims to have) the ability to predict future events. The past and present are filled with all sorts of meaningful, colorful, scary, humorous, and absurd predictors of the future. People like John The Baptist, Nostradamus, Oda Mae (Whoopi Goldberg’s character in the movie Ghost), Jimmy The Greek, and even our local meteorologist, Bob Shaw. For this month’s column, I’ll throw my hat into the ring and attempt to see into the future, by predicting the winners in eight categories for the 76th Annual Academy Awards. This column is being written on February 18, 2004 (eleven days BEFORE the broadcast). Actor in a Leading Role The nominees are:
    • Johnny Depp – Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl Ben Kingsley – House of Sand and Fog Jude Law – Cold Mountain s Bill Murray – Lost in Translation Sean Penn – Mystic River
And the Oscar goes to: Sean Penn – Mystic River: Sean’s career is full of Oscar-worthy performances, but his Mystic River role as the broken-hearted, vengeful father is his best to date. Bill Murray is a close second, but sadly, comedies are often the lesser sibling to drama in the Academy’s eyes.

1957 - present Sporting new fully maroon jerseys emblazoned with a huge white sea eagle across the chest, Manly returned to the semi-finals in 1957. The Manly Sea Eagles side was coached by 27 year-old Ken Arthurson who had been forced into early player retirement by injury. Arthurson's team boasted some great and experienced players including Roy Bull, George Hunter, Rex Mossop, Ray Ritchie, Ron Willey, George Hugo and Peter Burke. The side reached the qualifying Final and the Sea Eagles fought back dramatically from an 11-2 deficit against South Sydney at half-time, to record a win by 15-11 and a place in the Grand Final against St. George. Manly held the Dragons to 4-all nearing the break, before an against the run of play intercept from a wayward pass saw Tom Ryan sprint away to score in the corner. After Harry Bath converted the try St. George led at half-time by 9-4, but the Sea Eagles appeared to be deflated by the jolt. The second half was one to forget for Manly as they eventually lost 31-9. The Arthurson coaching era saw Manly consistently make the semi-finals over the following seasons until at the end of the 1961 season he stood down to embark on his celebrated administrative career.

After establishing their industry credentials in the late 1980s with a series of highly acclaimed but difficult to find shorts (many of which are now being reissued preceding their feature films), Pixar first appeared with Toy Story Toy Story created a revolution in animation in that it was the first entirely computer-animated feature film, where computers were not merely used to assist the animators but where the animation was all drawn inside the virtual environment. A number of other studios have popped up since jumping on the computer-animation revolution bandwagon, but Pixar remains at the forefront, having gone onto make other such hits as

There are 3.7 trillion fish in the ocean. They're looking for just one. In the warm tropical waters of the Great Barrier Reef, a clown fish named Marlin (Albert Brooks) lives safe and secluded in a quiet cul-de-sac with his only son, Nemo (Alexander Gould). Fearful of the ocean and its unpredictable risks, he struggles to protect his son. Nemo, like all young fish, is eager to explore the mysterious reef. When Nemo is unexpectedly taken far from home and thrust into a dentist's office fish tank in Sydney, Marlin finds himself the unlikely hero on an epic journey to rescue his son. In Marlin's quest he is joined by a good Samaritan named Dory (Ellen DeGeneres), a Regal Blue Tang fish with the worst short term memory and biggest heart in the entire ocean. As the two fish continue on their journey, encountering numerous dangers, Dory's optimism continually forces Marlin to find the courage to take risks and overcome his fears. In doing so, Marlin gains the ability to trust and believe, like Dory, that things will work out in the end. Confronting sea birds, sewer systems and even man himself, father and son's fateful separation ends in triumph. The once fearful Marlin becomes a true hero in the eyes of his son, and the whole ocean.
