Last month Sarge and Angela Hartnett went to the Salone del Gusto, the celebration of slow food held every two years in Turin, and they have come back full of stories about the amazing produce on offer. I know there is a groundswell of support for the movement in this country promoting the idea that food should be produced in harmony with nature and with an eye on quality more than price but you just have to look at the scale of the event over there to see how much we lag behind. It's quite clear that the Italians lead the world in the slow food movement....................................
Having said that, British producers certainly did us proud and were probably the largest foreign contingent. There were plenty of suppliers we were already familiar with but plenty more we weren't, each of them passionate about what they produce. There was the Real Ale Society, who had built a temporary pub to show the Italians that beers like Black Sheep Special or Summer Lightning are every bit as good as continental lager; Dorset Pastry, who make the most fabulous all-butter puff pastry; Yorkshire Game, who supply plenty of top London restaurants; and the chap from the Anglesey Sea Salt Company

Sphere.Inline.search('sphereSideBar','http://time.com/') tiiQuigoWriteAd(755769, 1290761, 180, 200, -1); More and more, Henry Kissinger is becoming a domestic political issue. Ronald Reagan gets consistent applause when he charges that Kissinger's policy of detente is a "one-way street." While being attacked from the right, he is also getting hell from the left, either because liberals have abandoned their traditional support of detente or because they oppose his interventionist views in Angola and elsewhere. He is thus in the unusual position of being accused of being too dovish and too hawkish. His relations with Congress are at their lowest ebb. Kissinger has just about given up hope of capping his career with a new Middle East breakthrough. Most important, the Secretary of State's great desire that a new Strategic Arms Limitation treaty with the Soviets could be signed this year is in grave jeopardy. Rumors swirl in Washington that he may quit in a couple of months. Says one of his aides: "Henry feels that the walls are closing in on him." They are cautioning Ford that any new arms-control agreement, no matter how sound, would evoke cries of "sellout" from Ronald Reagan, Scoop Jackson and other skeptics of detente. Meanwhile, those who support detente would give most of the credit for a deal not to Ford but Kissinger. Says a SALT insider: "In any in-house debate on SALT, Henry can beat the military boys hands down, as long as you leave domestic politics out of it. But domestic politics are not left out of it any more."

Press Releases Teacher's Resources Employment and Volunteer Opportunities Director's Blog ... Home Henry Morrison Flagler Biography Henry Morrison Flagler was born on January 2, 1830 in Hopewell, New York to Reverend Isaac and Elizabeth Caldwell Harkness Flagler. At the age of 14, after completing the eighth grade in 1844, Flagler decided to move to Bellevue, Ohio where he found work in the grain store of L.G. Harkness and Company at a salary of $5 per month plus room and board. By 1849, Flagler was promoted to sales staff of the company at a salary of $400 per month. Flagler became a partner in the newly organized D. M. Harkness and Company with his half-brother, Dan Harkness in 1852. The following year, on November 9, he married Mary Harkness. On March18, 1855, their first child, Jennie Louise, was born. Jennie Louise lived until 1889, when at the age of 34, she died following complications from child birth. A second child, Carrie, was born on June 18, 1858. She died three years later. On December 2, 1870, the Flaglers' only son, Harry Harkness Flagler, was born. Flagler founded the Flagler and York Salt Company, a salt mining and production business in Saginaw, Michigan in 1862 with his brother-in-law Barney York. By 1865, the end of the Civil War caused a drop in the demand for salt and the Flagler and York Salt Company collapsed. Heavily in debt, Flagler returned to Bellevue, Ohio. He had lost his initial $50,000 investment and an additional $50,000 he had borrowed from his father-in-law and Dan Harkness.

It's legendary hatches and abundant large wild rainbow trout make the Henry's Fork one of America's top fly-fishing destinations. The river flows for approximately 150 miles and within its journey passes some of the more classic dry fly water in the United States. Gentle flowing meadowland, pocket water, and spring creek like sections make up much of this legendary fishery made popular by Avril Harriman the railroad man. The Henry's Fork of the Snake is a spectacular river and fishery. Anglers come from all over the world to this river to fish its diverse and productive waters. More........

    http://www.rampantscotland.com/songs/blsongs_henrymartin.htm
    Traditional Scottish Songs
    - Henry Martin
There are many variations on this song based on a real pirate - though his name was Andrew Barton, not Henry Martin. In the 15th century, John Barton, Andrew's father, had commanded a merchant ship which was captured by the Portuguese. King James IV gave his sons permission to carry out reprisal raids but Andrew carried his piracy too far and attacked English ports, pretending to be Portuguese. The English fleet was sent by King Henry VIII and captured Andrew's ship and fatally wounded him.
    Henry Martin
There were three brothers in merry Scotland
In Scotland there lived brothers three,
And they did cast lots which of them should go, should go, should go,
For to turn robber all on the salt sea. The lot it fell on Henry Martin
The youngest of all the three,
That he should turn robber all on the salt sea, the salt sea, the salt sea,
For to maintain his two brothers and he. He had not been sailing but a long winter's night
And part of a short winter's day,
When he espied a lofty stout ship, stout ship, stout ship,
    Coming a-sailing along that way.
