Anne Rice on Hillary and Barack
Posted January 9, 2008 11:52 PM (EST) Read More: 2008 Democratic Presidential Primary Anne Rice Anne Rice Hillary Clinton Barack Obama ... Breaking Politics News
Anne Rice has just posted a video on YouTube celebrating Hillary's New Hampshire win and suggesting a Clinton/Obama ticket. Ms. Rice says she is "pro-life", "a Democrat" and "for Hillary." Here it is: This video isn't just the video of a famed female novelist exulting in Sen. Clinton's win. It is also the voice of a woman from a generation that grew up in a world where people sneered at the thought of a female president. It is the voice of a woman like all those women who turned out in New Hampshire to vote for Sen. Clinton. If last week was all about Obama as the transcendent political leader who could inspire America's youngest generation, then this week is all about Hillary as the experienced politician who might be the most effective change agent of them all.

Anne Rice: 'Stations on a Journey'
The best-selling author gives up writing about vampires to write about the 'ultimate supernatural hero'Jesus Christ. By Marcia Z. Nelson
Anne Rice has nailed her vampire novels into a coffin.
"I will never write those kind of books again never," Rice said, referring to three decades of work that include bestsellers like "Interview with the Vampire" and other books in the Vampire Chronicles series. Her books about witches and dark angels, she said, "were reflections of a world that didn't include redemption." "In 2002 I made up my mind that I would not write anything that wasn't for Christ," the former vampire queen explained. The title of her latest novel stakes out Rice's new preoccupation. "Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt" tells the story of a young Jesus from his point of view: a 7-year-old boy who is discovering his powers and his identity.

Rice Backs Clinton
Hillary Clinton picked up a different kind of endorsement todayauthor Anne Rice ("Interview with the Vampire," "Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt") explained in a video how she was "ecstatic" about the New York senator's candidacy. Rice called Clinton "prophetic" on health care, noting that since the former First Lady tried to effect reforms 15 years ago, "Hillary has learned a great deal." Rice even had kind words for Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, calling him "a beautiful man," and suggesting he could "make a magnificent vice presidential candidate." Audio Interviews with Anne Rice
Anne Rice reinvented vampire fiction, writing from the point of view of the immortal in her novels Interview with the Vampire and The Vampire Lestat . In her conversation with Don Swaim on Halloween Eve, 1985, she recalls her early life in the "splendid gloom" of New Orleans. She tells where her ideas come from and discusses the joys of writing on a computer, a concept taken for granted by many writers today. Rice also talks about her attempts to step away from books dealing with supernatural elements but to continue to write about outcasts. She does this in her historical novels, The Feast of All Saints and Cry to Heaven In The Feast of All Saints , Rice tells the story of multtos, quadroons, and octoroons, the products of illicit relationships between blacks and whites before the Civil War in New Orleans. Cry to Heaven is about the castrato opera singers of 18th Century Italy. These singers started as boys of 6 or 7 who were castrated to preserve the soprano sound. Both novels deal with the inequality that was common in the lives of these two social groups. Listen to the Anne Rice interview with Don Swaim, 1985, RealAudio

33. Croatoan Fanfic - Where Has Anne Rice Fanfiction Gone?
Looking for anne rice fanfiction (or specs)? Well you won t find any. Here s why.
http://www.angelfire.com/rant/croatoan/
WHERE CAN I READ FANFICTION BASED ON ANNE RICE'S BOOKS? Nowhere. You can't. On April 7, 2000 Anne Rice had the following message to say on her webpage "I do not allow fan fiction. It is absolutely essential that you respect my wishes." This statement was then followed up by attacks on Anne Rice fanfic authors. The attacks consisted of, amongst other things, e-mailed threats regarding not only the writing of fanfiction but any SO WHAT HAPPENED? Unable to defend themselves against these attacks, the fanfic authors responded by going into hiding. BUT DOESN'T ANNE RICE HAVE THE LEGAL RIGHT TO TELL THEM TO STOP? WHY DIDN'T THEY JUST STOP WRITING AND LEAVE IT AT THAT? Yes she does. However this was not an issue of Anne Rice asking the fanfic writers to stop. If that had been the case there would have been no problem. The problem was that she was not asking or even telling, she was using the excuse of fanfic to cyber-stalk and harass the fanfic authors, even after said authors removed the illegal fanfic from their sites. Not having the money or legal resources to defend themselves against this, hiding was the only option left. COULDN'T THE FANFIC AUTHORS JUST TRY BEING NICE TO ANNE? MAYBE SHE WOULD HAVE AGREED IF THEY HAD ASKED POLITELY.

An Unrequited Letter to Anne Rice
Posted by Robert P. George on December 17, 2007, 9:29 AM
Dear Ms. Rice: I am a professor of the philosophy of law at Princeton, and someone who enjoyed your fine book Out of Egypt. I have read your endorsement of Senator Clinton and your reasoning as to why you support her despite your pro-life convictions. I am a former Democrat who left the party because it hardened its heart toward the child in the womb. In the 1990s, I had the honor of working for Governor Robert P. Casey of Pennsylvania, the last of the great national pro-life Democratic political leaders. (The governor, you may recall, was denied an opportunity to speak at the 1992 Democratic National Convention because of his pro-life advocacy.) I am the grandson of West Virginia coal miners who, together with my grandmothers, were loyal Democrats. If they were alive today, they would ache, as I ache, to know that the political party they loved has committed itself to the legal protection of the killing of the unborn. I appreciated the soft voice with which you spoke in expressing your views, and I wish to respond in similarly soft terms. Although I believe you are deeply mistaken in what you are doing and encouraging others to do, I am certain that you are trying to do what is right. That is all any of us can do. Perhaps you are the one who is right, and I am the one who is wrong. I hope, though, that you will consider my reasons.
